Mila
he slowly shakes his head as he stands up. "I can't be mad at you for making that decision."
I watch as he runs his hands through his hair, and I nod. "If the twins are mine, that means I missed so much... I missed five years of their lives... their first steps... birthdays, holidays, first days of school... Fuck."
I shake my head before he can begin blaming himself. "That's not your fault."
"But it is... I was such an idiot back then if only I just-"
"Don't," I say. "There's no point in wishing things were different, yes everything would be different if you didn't leave me that night, but you did, and here we are... I'm not saying you were wrong for doing it because you didn't even know me, we both did what we did which led to this... and I don't regret keeping them, they're the best thing that has ever happened to me... and if you decide you don't want to be in their lives then I can leave n-"
"No, no." He shakes his head. "I want to... I want them... I want to try." That catches me off guard, I slowly nod as he continues. "I've missed enough Mila, I'm not running away from this."
I blink my eyes before they can tear up, and I nod. "Okay." I exhale a breath I didn't know I was holding as he steps closer.
"Okay?"
I nod as I lay my head against his chest and relax onto him, feeling ten times lighter now that I finally got it off my chest. "I was so scared to tell you," I admit.
"I know," he says as his arms go around me, after a while he speaks again. "I'm a dad." He says like it's finally sinking in, he releases a dad. "Honestly didn't think it was possible." He says as I look up at him.
"Why not?"
"I never could see myself as a dad... what if I can't do this."
"I'll help you," I say as I lean my head against his chest again. "You're kinda stuck with me after tomorrow." He chuckles at that. "Are you still drunk?"
He shakes his head. "I think that bomb you just dropped sobered me up." I laugh at that.
"Good you needed it, I do not like you drunk."
"You don't like me either way."
"That's not true..." I say as I yawn. "You're decent at times." He chuckles at that.
"Yeah?"
I nod as I shut my eyes, all of a sudden getting tired. "Come on," Gio lets me lay in his bed as he gets in beside me, I feel his hand grip my waist as he pulls me closer, and my heart beats faster at that. "Why do I feel like that isn't the only thing that was bothering you..." he says softly.
I frown at that because he's right. "My dad's flying in tomorrow... for the wedding," I tell him he nods.
"And you're not happy about it?"
I shrug. "I don't know what to think about it, I don't know what he's like honestly." I'm scared of the fact that I don't know what to expect when it comes to the man I call my father.
I feel a hand rub-down the length of my back as my eyes shut, I yawn. "When are you going to tell the twins?"
I open my eyes at that as I look up at him. "I'll tell them soon... after the wedding, I don't know how they're going to take it.. especially Cade he doesn't like change... but they love you already so it shouldn't be too bad." His eyes stay on mine as I finish talking, after a while he nods but doesn't speak.
I shut my eyes as I felt myself falling into a deep sleep, and right before I was fully asleep I silently heard. "I really hope so."
-
"WAKE UP!" I'm forced awake as I feel two tiny bodies collapsing on top of me. "Good morning Mommy." Isabella smiles as she flashes her missing tooth smile at me. "Good morning Mr Gio!" She says and I notice that the two have collapsed on both of us.
"Good morning!" Cade says as his messy hair falls over his forehead.
"Why are you guys awake so early?"
"Ariel said you two are in biiiiiiiig trouble," Cade says.
"She's here? This early?" Gio asks.
Isa nods. "She said to wake you two up because it's a big day today!" Isa said jumping up and down. "Come on Mommy I get to wear my dress!"
"Why are you two still in bed!" Ariel walks into the room.
"Uh oh." Both kids say before running out of the room laughing.
She walks over to Gio and grabs his ear pulling him out of bed. "Ma!" He groans.
"You two are not supposed to sleep in the same bed the night before the wedding! It's tradition!" She crosses her arms, her eyes go from me to her son and back to me before her mouth drops. "Did you two have sex!" She accuses it like it's a war crime.
"Jesus ma, no!" I get out of bed and I watch the two before Victoria stands outside the door, I leave the two to argue as I follow her.
"We're running approximately, 3 minutes late on the wedding day and Ariel has completely lost her shit," she walks me into my room. "Shower, and meet me back out here, I'll get the kids dressed."
I nod feeling like I'm on a roller coaster, this day is going to be stressful. "Wait! Did you tell
Him?" She asks and I nod. "And?""He surprisingly took it really well."
She raises a brow. "I can see that..."
"Gross, I didn't sleep with him," I say as I push her out of the room and shut the door, giggling to myself I get into the shower and come out to an extremely loud house.
When I walked into the room there were makeup ladies, ladies for my dress, hair, nails, and all you could think of, as soon as I was out of the bathroom I was wrapped in a robe and placed in a chair for my makeovers.
A few hours later Victoria rushes into the room. "Okay, Ariel is going to make my head explode," she sighs. "But Gio is gone and already on his way to the venue, which by the way, is packed, Ariel took the kids with her as she is also on the way there I feel like I can breathe again." She says as she plops down on the bed. "You look amazing babe."
I look at myself in the mirror, I really did. "Thank you."
Victoria leaves the room to get changed because I forced her to be one of my bridesmaids so I can have at least one person I know.
Once I'm dressed in my beautiful dress I stare at myself in the mirror as all of the ladies who helped me get ready leave. "Woah," Victoria smiles from behind me, she looked amazing in her purple bridesmaid dress. "You look absolutely amazing." I see her eyes light up in the mirror.
I smile at her. "So do you." I turn around to face her she holds a hand out for me.
"The cars outside, let's go before Ariel has an aneurysm." I laugh as I place my hand in hers and let her help me walk down the stairs I ask her to pack me some extra shoes because I am not a heel lady, I haven't been in five years.
As soon as I step outside I spot the huge limousine, the driver opens the door for us and then begins driving.
When we arrive Ariel's waiting at the entrance and rushes me into one of the rooms and examines me for herself. "Perfecto, I think you two will be very happy." She says like she actually means it.
I give her a slight smile, the chances of that happening are close to zero, Gio and I were only getting married for the benefits that came with it, not feelings.
The wedding wasn't real, it was a contract.
