Giovanni
"You sure about this man? We can just jump him." Serge says as we stand outside the door of my parents' house and I shake my head, knowing that killing him won't solve anything, I had no choice.
"I have to do this. You know that." I say and Sergio stays quiet as the doors quickly open, my mother is sobbing as she comes out of the house.
"I tried to stop him Gio, I tried!" She cries as she grabs my shoulders.
"I know Ma." She Wouldn't ever allow this if she wasn't forced by him to comply.
"They're okay, I didn't let him do anything to them!" She says and my gaze burns past her and into his eyes as he walks towards the door.
"I guess you're not as stupid as you seem." He says before his eyes latch on my mother. "Stop your fucking crying, Ariel! Get inside." He demands her, she glares at him through her tears before running into the house, hopefully, to comfort my kids.
"Watch it." Dario glares at my father, Dario is not the biggest fan of men treating their wives like shit, mostly from what he had to witness as a child with an abusive father who would beat his mother and him halfway to death for breathing wrong.
"Got something to say, Boy!" Marco shouts and Dario tries to walk past me towards him but I stop him, my father has made it a habit of calling Dario Boy, no matter how many times Dario has shown his dislike to the nickname.
"He's not worth it Brother." Sergio wraps his arm around his brother.
"Let's get this over with, I can't stand to fucking look at you," I say and he moves out of the way letting us into the house. "Where are they?"
He rolls his eyes before motioning towards the living room. "I didn't raise you this way son, you're weak, and you're soft, these people are not good for you."
My breathing is heavy as I stop in my tracks and turn around to face him. "Call me son one more fucking time," I threaten, I'm in his face as I quietly shout. "You don't get to call me that, you have no idea what it's like to be a father."
"A couple of months of playing daddy and you do?" He asks, I don't respond to that, he's trying to get into my head. "These kids were fine before you came into their lives," he laughs. "You call that great parenting?"
"Compared to you? Fucking fantastic." I seethe, my hand itches to reach for my gun and blow the brains out of the fucker. "Don't ever talk about my family."
He doesn't say anything, maybe when I was younger he would have been able to take me but not today, not now. Ever since I was young I waited for the day... the day that I was finally bigger, he couldn't bully me anymore, but I can't deny that his words messed with my head a bit, they were better off without me.
"Fucking soft." He says as I walk away and I ignore him as I make my way into the living room and finally find the kids, curled up on the couch together, my heart calms as they look up at me.
"Daddy!" They cry as they run over and throw their little arms around me, and I could cry at the fucking relief I felt.
I kneeled so I was eye-leveled to them. "Are you guys hurt? I'm sorry.." I wrap my arms around them.
"I want to go home," Cade cries as he hangs onto me. "I don't like it here, please can we go home." He begins crying more.
"Where's mommy?" Isa looks around.
"She's waiting for you guys at home," I reply.
"Can we go please?" She frowns and it breaks my heart to see them so sad.
