Mila

"We're going to dinner tonight," Gio says as he steps into the kitchen where I am downing a bowl of cereal, he fixes his cuff links and is dressed in an expensive-looking suit as always, but I knew this meant he was about to leave.

"Who's dinner?" I furrowed my brows because this was the first time I'd heard of this dinner, Gio has a habit of not telling me things and I don't think I liked it. "I don't have anything to wear," I tell him.

"You have a closet full of dresses, Mila, I'm sure you'll find something." He had a point there. "Wear something simple, please." He says as he raises a brow and I smile at that.

"I can't make promises to that," I say.

"Never mind, you can stay home." I roll my eyes.

"I'm joking." I put a spoonful of the sugary cereal in my mouth, the house was quiet and I wondered where all of his staff was. "Where is everyone?" I ask, Victoria is usually here around now and I needed some company.

"Off, Victoria has a late shift, to watch the kids." He tells me and I nod to that.

"I don't like how my only friend works for you."

"I can always fire her if you want." He tells me and I stare at him shocked, my eyes wide and he furrowed his brow. "What's wrong?"

"You cannot fire her!"

"Why not? Then your only friend wouldn't work for me." He says.

"Because she would go broke you idiot, do you need to be reminded that she works for you so she can live!" I tell him and he shrugs.

"Oh."

"You're so rich it disgusts me," I tell him as I get up and walk into the living room sitting down on the couch as he follows me. "Don't you have somewhere to be?" I ask as he sits next to me.

He checks his watch. "Not for another hour." He says.

I somehow convinced him to watch a movie with me, clicking on a random movie I lay on the couch letting my feet lay across his lap, grabbing a pillow I put it below my head as I watched the movie.

Suddenly I feel his hands on my leg running up and down it as his free hand was rubbing my feet, it felt fucking amazing.

I let him rub my feet for a while before my eyes begin to shut, I yawn trying to keep my eyes on the TV but my tiredness wins the fight and soon takes over.

The dress I wore was simple, as per Giovanni's request, it was a long black dress, the shoulders also fell off my shoulder, the sleeves were long and it was the most modest dress I had in my closet.

Victoria helped me with my hair, it was an updo with a few pieces hanging out, it made me look classy, and I liked it.

We did a tiny bit of makeup and Victoria picked me jewelry for me before going into the kids' room, as I was putting my earrings on I heard the front door faintly close.

I grab my other earring and try to get it into the hole when I see Gio stand behind me in the mirror, I turn around and watch him as he leans against my door frame, I finally get the earring in and flare my arms to show off the outfit.

"Perfect." He says approving, I chuckle and turn around to look at myself.

"Please tell me you're changing." I raised a brow at him through the mirror, he took offense as he looked down at his outfit, it looked nice, but if he was going anywhere with me it's not going to be with clothes he was wearing all day doing god knows what.

"What's wrong with what I have on?" He asks.

"In your line of work, everything." He probably has someone's blood on that suit.

He chuckles as he walks out of the room and into his room to change, I put on my heels and grab my clutch before making my way downstairs, I go into the kitchen to wait for Gio where I notice Luca, he's dressed up as well.

"Are you coming with us?" I ask sitting down next to him and he nods, his leg bobs under the table which I furrowed my brows at, was he nervous?

"You look nice," he tells me and I smile, as I run my hands down the sides of the dress.

"Thank you, so do you," I tell him, and it was true, Luca cleaned up very nicely, his hair was dark and even though they weren't related at all he looked a bit like Gio, I could tell Gio was a big influence to him.

Gio told me that he met Luca when he was only twelve years old, Luca had tried stealing thousands of dollars from Gio when he found him.

He could tell that Luca had it hard growing up so instead of punishing the kid for it he took him under his wing, he gained guardianship over Luca when Gio was just 20 years old and recruited him.

I don't know if I would say that recruiting him was a good option but it's better than leaving him in the streets to get killed.

And though recruiting Luca gave him a better life than the one he lived before it still came with struggles, Luca was molded into the mafia, not by Gio's choice, but by his father's.

He said that if Luca was going to be part of their family then he was going to have to play his role, and Luca hated the idea at first, but when he started defending himself at school, more fights he's won and eventually started, he fell in love with it.

He was still very sheltered, that's as much that I know about him, he seems like a great person tho. "Are you nervous?" I ask my brows crease as I ask it, and he tilts his head in confusion.

"Why would I be nervous?" He asks and I look down at his bobbing leg, he follows my eyes and stops his leg. "Oh, habit." His hand slides over his knee and I notice his finger twitching against his leg, another sign of his anxiety but I choose to say nothing about it.

Gio comes downstairs dressed in a Black Brioni suit, and he looked fucking good. "Much better." I smile.

What are the odds he will let me rip that suit off of him tonight, because I don't know if I'll be able to contain myself.

Luca stands and makes his way out the door and I walk over to Gio who holds his arm out, I roll my eyes with a chuckle and wrap my arm around his. "Is Luca okay?" I ask Gio. "He seems nervous," I tell him.

"You'll find out soon enough." Is all he tells me, I give him a blank stare as he leads us to the car.
