"Alright." He replied back quickly. He was trying his best to look like he didn't care but his eyes couldn't hide his nervousness. You could cut the tension in the air with a knife.
"Do you want to talk in the house I'm staying in? It'd be warmer there."
"Sure."
We walked in silence towards my house. I looked over at him occasionally but he was always looking in the other direction. I could tell was trying to hide how hard he was blushing. The snow outside was starting to pick up again.
"This is the one." I pointed and walked inside, taking my jacket off and took a seat at the kitchen table. Thorfinn took a seat at the chair next to me, putting his hands in his pockets.
"So, what did you want to talk about?" I blurted out trying to get this over with.
"Well will you be honest?" He looked at me with serious eyes.
"Yes Thorfinn." I met his gaze.
"What happened after you ran after Canute?"
"When I first found him we sat down and talked. I told him how I had an issue about he was acting about allowing the raid and that was about it, as far as talking goes. Pretty soon after that we walked back to camp because it was storming." I looked at him trying to keep a straight face. I was never a good liar.
"Pretty soon huh?" He said looking at me.
"Yeah?" I questioned
"What happened after that then?" He questioned further, squinting his eyes.
"I told you we walked back to camp."
"You're lying. I was waiting for you back at camp in one of the houses. It wouldn't have taken you that long to just talk for a moment and walk back. I watched when Bjorn took you to Askeladd." Anger was growing in his voice.
"You know walking back in a snow storm takes a bit of time right." I said back sarcastically
"It wouldn't have taken that long though. You did more than that."
"You know I don't have to explain a damn thing to you!? I'm doing this because I c-" I stood up from the table, annoyed.
"Because you what?" He stood up too and moved closer to me trying to read me. I didn't know what to say.
"You kissed him didn't you?" He said after a moment. His eyes were full of anger. I opened my mouth but no words followed.
"Well are you going to tell me!?!?" He screamed throwing his hands in the air.
"Y-yes." I stuttered out. I looked at him as his eyes grew wide with hurt before sharpening again with anger.
"What else?" He moved closer
"Nothing." I looked down at the floor
"You told me you would be honest." He grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him.
"I am" I said shakily, my face growing warm from the closeness
"What did you really talk about after you followed him?" He looked at me breathing quickly
I paused taking in a deep breath. I moved backwards from him and he dropped his hand from my face.
"He proposed to me." I looked at the floor, unable to look at his face.
"What did you say." He asked quickly
"I-I said I didn't know."
"Is that all you ever say!" He screamed
"Well it's hard to make a decision about anything when you're always screaming at me!" My hands started to shake this was all too much. He paused for a second to look at me.
"And what really happened to your neck? I know you didn't fall."
"I-I fell Thorfinn. I don't want to talk anymore. Please leave now, I'm not comfortable." I motioned to the door and started to walk towards it slowly.
"Take your bandage off." He commanded
"What?! No?" I said back in shock. I didn't expect him to take it this far.
"It's the only way you can prove you're not a liar. Take it off."
"No, you need to leave please." I said shakily
"Then I will. I need to know." He reached his hand towards my neck. I stood there for a second in shock at how he was acting before moving quickly backwards.
"What is wrong with you?! Why are you being like this?" I said back screaming, almost falling down.
"Just take it off if you actually fell. Whats the big deal?" He poked further, he was cornering me into a wall.
"The big deal is that you're being weird! Why're you doing this?"
"Because I know you're lying, that's why I'm damn upset!" He put his body against the wall next to me trapping me.
"You need to leave." I said quietly, trying to push past him but he wouldn't budge.
"I'm not going to judge you. I just want to know the truth and I'm not going to leave until I get it." He said with pleading eyes.
"Me showing you my neck isn't going to make anything better." I said nervously. I knew what he would think the moment he saw it.
"Why not?" He looked at me
"Because I know what you'll think and it's not the truth."
"Then what if I let you explain after?"
I paused thinking for a moment.
"Alright."
I reached my shaking hand up to my neck and started to unwrap it until the bandages fell to the floor below me. His eyes widened and he stepped back from the wall looking at me. He brought his hand to his face to cover his mouth.
"Now before you make any assumptions let me explain-"
"You slept with him." He said promptly looking at the bruises that were placed over my collar bone. His face turning red with anger he was trying to conceal.
"No I didn't! You promised me you'd let me explain if I showed you!"
"You promised me you'd tell me the truth and you lied over and over again. Like hell you got those from falling down? Are you going to try and convince of that again? There's nothing to explain."
"No! I didn't sleep with him! I promise! These are from him b-but we didn't do anything further."
"You don't need to lie. Canute told me the truth last night. There's nothing more to talk about." He started to walk towards the door but I blocked it with my body. Angry tears were running down his face.
"You need to move and let me leave before I say or do something you'll regret." He said standing in front of me, his fists clenched.
"What did Canute tell you?" I demanded.
"Nothing you don't already fucking know." He scoffed.
"Tell me Thorfinn! You're not leaving until I know." My eyes started to well up with tears.
"Do you know how disgusting you are? To think that I was in love with you? And not 15 fucking minutes after thinking you were mine I find out you were sleeping with another man telling him you were in love with him and how you're going to marry him. And don't tell me I can't leave, I'll leave when I want to." He had his hands raised in the air. I looked up at him with regret.
"No that's not what happened at all!" I screamed
He moved closer to me and put his finger in my face,
"And for you to sit there and try and fucking lie to me and convince me that you're innocent? I saw the bruises on him too. So don't even try and fucking tell me you didn't sleep with him."
"I didn't! Just because he has marks on his neck doesn't mean I fucking gave myself to him?"
"Well that's not what he said and your word is as good as shit. I never thought there'd be a day where I trust Princess over you."
"No stop! Please let me explain! I'm sorry."
"You've lied enough."
"I'm not lying! Thorfinn the only reason I didn't tell you is because Askeladd-"
"You know what I think you are?" He moved closer and looked me in the eyes, tears running down both of our faces. He paused before talking again.
"You're exactly what I thought you were when I first met you. You're worth less than swine, just like Askeladd. I hope you have fun marrying Canute, traitor."
He pushed me to the side and walked out my door.
I stood from the door way and watched as he ran off towards the forest.
After standing for a moment in silence and making sure Thorfinn was nowhere in sight, I walked outside. I shoved my clenched fists in my pocket, trying to hide my expression, until I got to where Canute was staying and knocked.

AN: IM SO SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONG ON THIS CHAPTER. I ended up writing this chapter over twice because I felt like I didn't keep Thorfinn true to character, so I hope this is better! I hope you're enjoying it!
ALSO QUESTION:
Which of the two would you like me to focus on more? I know the general plot of what I want this story to follow but want reader's opinions too! <3 thank you so much
