Time To Say Goodbye

Standing in the gate room, Rosalie and Evan wait for Weir and Sheppard. The time came for them to say goodbye once again, something neither of them is ready to do. After all that has happen, Rosalie wonders when will it be the next time she will see Evan.

-"I wish I didn't have to leave." - Rosalie tells Evan, her voice small.

-"I know, I do to. But, hey, it's a lot easier now for us to see each other. I'll tell you what. The next time I have some time off, I'll make the trip back to Earth and we'll spend some time together."

-"You better."

-"I'll miss you, Rosie." - Evan says, hugging her.

-"I'll miss you, too."

-"I'm always with you. Remember that, okay?"

-"I know. You never really left." - Rosalie whispers, holding her necklace.

Their goodbyes are interrupted by Weir and Sheppard approaching.

-"It's time." - Weir tells them, a soft smile on her lips.

-"Thank you for everything, Dr. Weir."

-"You can visit us anytime, Doc." - Sheppard says, giving her a smile.

-"I might take you up on that, Colonel. Also, thank you. For everything."

Weir signals Chuck to activate the gate and Rosalie knows its time. Watching the gate dialing in the address to Earth, Rosalie wonders how long will it take before she can come back. Don't get her wrong, this is the moment that she has been wishing for for the last five years. But now, knowing that Evan is alive and after spending some time in Atlantis, she has to admit that she feels quite comfortable there.

The gate connects and she knows there's no turning back. Walking to the gate, she looks back one last time. Seeing Evan, she smiles at him and nods, before crossing the gate that will, hopefully, take her back to Earth.

Evan watches Rosie go through the gate, giving him one last smile before the gate closes behind her, and he can't help but feel this emptiness in his heart. Who knows when it will be the next time he will see her. All he can hope is that it won't take another five years.
