Welcome Back

As Rosalie crosses the gate into Atlantis, she can't help but remember the first time she arrived at the city and how much things have change since then.

Back then, she had been blindfolded and was led around by Ronon, the large Satedan gripping her arm tight so she wouldn't flee, or fall, as she was pushed and pulled across the vast corridors of the city towards the infirmary.

Now, she is walking in with her eyes wide open and there's no one holding her. There are just friendly faces welcoming her, with smiles on their faces.

-"Welcome back, Dr. Williams." - Weir greets her, Sheppard by her side giving her a nod.

-"Dr. Weir, Colonel Sheppard. Thank you and thank you for having me back."

-"When General O'Neill suggested you joined the expedition, I knew someone with your expertise would be a valuable asset."

-"I hope I live up to expectations." - Rosalie states, smiling.

-"How about I take you to your quarters, so you can get settled? You're not on schedule for another two days to give you some time to adjust to the city."

-"I appreciate that, Dr. Weir, but it's not necessary. I still remember the city well from the last time I was here and I've been studying the layout from the schematics back at the SGC."

-"I should've figured that you would do that. General O'Neill did mention you always liked to be prepared." - Weir says, smiling, and they hear Sheppard chuckle before being pulled away by a Marine.

Rosalie follows Weir through the corridors and they eventually stop in front of a set of doors.

-"Did you have Dr. Beckett's gene therapy?" - Weir asks her, clearly just remembering that maybe she didn't have the Ancient gene.

-"Didn't need it. It turns out I already have the gene." - Rosalie answers, swiping her hand in front of the set of control crystals that control the doors, making them opening.

-"That's good. Believe me when I tell you that it comes in hand having the gene naturally." - Weir says, following her into the room. -"I'll leave you to unpack and get settled."

Rosalie nods and thanks Weir, watching the woman heading for the door. Suddenly Rosalie makes her stop. She knows she probably shouldn't be asking her this, after all Weir is her boss, but she needs to know.

-"Dr. Weir." - Rosalie sees the woman stop just before the door.

-"Yes?"

-"Can I ask you something? Something somewhat personal?"

-"If I can answer, of course."

-"Does Evan, I mean, Major Lorne know that I'm here?" - Rosalie felt self-conscious asking her, but she needs to know.

-"No, he doesn't. Colonel Sheppard figured it would be a nice surprise for the Major, so he decided not to tell him until you were actually in the city. Major Lorne is currently off-world, but as soon as he's back in the city, Colonel Sheppard will bring him here."

-"Thank you, Dr. Weir." - Rosalie sees Weir smiling at her before nodding and leaving.

Rosalie knows that Weir is well aware of her friendship with Evan and how deep their bond goes, and apparently, so does Sheppard. Having Evan be surprised by her presence there will be a good surprise, or so she hopes.

Rosalie grabs her bags and starts unpacking, her mind going a hundred miles an hour with all the possible outcomes of this surprise. Will he be happy that they are, once again, working together? Or will he be annoyed and think that he has to babysit her now that she's there?

Shaking those thoughts out of her head, Rosalie takes a deep breath and lets it out. She knows that a lot of time has passed since the last time they were together, and a lot has happened since then, and that they are now different people then they were back when they would go off-world together, but deep down they were still the same two people they were back when they were still working at the SGC.

Rosalie had to believe that, otherwise her heart will shatter when she sees him.
