I met Saxon four years ago in the back of our town's library. The library was gigantic and the back of it had a storage area. That was the first time I felt butterflies in my stomach. I was thirteen, still young yet I was already on that stage wherein butterflies and rainbows bloomed. He was my first real boy bestfriend. He was the best of all the bests. But certain circumstances might changed us and broke us apart, I knew things would go back to normal.
Saxon taught me to ride bike. He taught me that. My parents were surprised I could balance riding my sister's bike. From them on, I just practiced at balancing until know. I was still bad at balancing but it's quite fine than before.
"Tapos na." Saxon announced.
Tumayo ako nang tumayo siya. He dusted off the dirt and got his glass to drink his juice. "Salamat. Magkano ba ang gulong na'to?"
Umiling siya habang umiinom. Inubos niya muna ang juice bago nagsalita. "Hindi na. Libre yan."
Nagtaas ako ng kilay. "Hindi ako naniniwala na libre lang. Alam ko may kapalit." Matapang kong sagot.
He rolled his obsidian eyes and shook his head like he could not believe I answered him like that. Looking back to me, he answered. "Fine. Gawan mo ako ng poem. Diba writer ka?"
"Ako? Hindi ako nagsusulat."
"Liar. I know you love to write stories. I still remember how your wild imaginations work."
I warned him off about it.
"Hindi na ako nagsusulat. Pera nalang ang ibabayad ko sayo. Magkano ba ang isang gulong?"
"May pera ka ba ngayon?"
Umiling ako. "Wala." agad kong sagot. "Pero babayaran kita. Promise."
Tumango siya. Sa wakas ay sumuko din siya. "Fine.
"It's almost lunchtime.
The huge kitchen was welcoming but I didn't like the interior because it's too old-fashion. The cabinets were brown and also the cabinets under the sink. It's very grandma style.
"Take a sit, please."
I gulped as I stared at the fried chickens.
It's so awkward because we just reunited again after four years, am I that sarcastic?
