A few minutes pass in silence, the two girls content with just watching Y/N work around the room. It takes her less than ten minutes to unpack the first suitcase, pulling another one along and plopping it onto the bed in the next moment.
Only, as soon as she reaches to unzip it, she pause, a furrow to her brow.
“Wait,” Y/N subconsciously said her thoughts out loud, “What time is it?”
“Just past two in the afternoon,” Lisa answers her without so much as looking at a clock. “Why?”
Y/N went to reach for her phone that rests charging beside her bed. Sure enough, Lisa is right. Seeing that it’s at full battery, she's quick to unplug it.
“Well, like I said earlier, my parents are probably worried sick about me,” Y/N said, going in to check her notifications that she has missed over the past two weeks.
Sure enough, Y/N sees dozens of messages from her parents, and her sister, asking where she is, and what happened to her. “I’m calling my mom. "You two,” she turn to give them a sharp look, “stay quiet.”
Two seconds later and they can hear the familiar sound of a dial tone and then the tell tale ringing of an outgoing call. Each girl watches Y/N carefully, hearing her thoughts begin to consume her as anxiety takes hold.
What is Y/N going to tell her mother? Will she even pick up? What if she starts asking too many questions? Are her parents okay?
It’s on the fourth ring that her mother answers the call, her face appearing on screen as a relieved smile paints Y/N's own features. She seriously didn’t realize just how much she missed her, or her father for that matter.
“Sweetie, oh my goodness!” Y/N's mother greets her with a gasp, nothing but worry reflected on her features. “Are you alright? Where have you been? What have you been up to? What’s going on? Where are you?”
“I’m fine, mom,” Y/N shoot her a smile, feeling as if a weight has been lifted from her shoulders as she sees a familiar face. “I’m sorry I went a bit off the grid for a while, I just-“ you heave a sigh, running a hand over the top of her head, “needed a break from things.”
“Oh, sweetie,” Her mother coos. “It happens to the best of us. As long as you’re okay.”
“I’m okay, mom. I’m okay.” Y/N assures her, but at this point, she honestly doesn’t know if it’s more for her Mom or for her.
“Where did you go?” Her Mom asks, and Y/N can see her sit down on the living room couch in their family home, her father sitting on the opposite end as she angles the camera to include him in the frame.
“Hi, dad,” Y/N shoot her a small wave as her father's eyes widen and he scoots forward to see his daughter better. “I’m sorry for giving you both a scare.”
"We were worried sick about you, Y/N.” Her father voices softly, taking the phone momentarily from her mother’s hand. His concerned face fills the entire frame as he frowns. “We were about to put out a missing person’s report since you haven’t contacted us in so long, and you usually call or message every few days.”
“Yeah,” Y/N chuckle awkwardly, shooting a sidelong glance at the two girls sitting on the couch and watching her every move, “Sorry about that.”
