"I thought I would find you here,"

The gentle hum of a voice draws Y/N's attention to the open doorway of the garden, where she can see Nayeon slowly beginning to make her way over to her.

Currently, Y/N sits comfortably on one of the benches off to the left of the fountain, watching the water gently trickle and ripple out as the scent of all of her favourite flowers surrounds her.

It's been exactly three days since that night she had shared with Lisa, and she just really needed some fresh air. Not that Y/N's in a horrible mood, or anything, she just had too much time to think.

One habit of hers that she has never been able to break is overthinking things. Sure, it may not be as bad now as it was at the start of this whole fiasco, but still, sometimes she cannot help but get caught up in her own head.

It also just seems to be one of those days. A day of which Y/N just feels more down on herself than usual. Luckily, it hasn't happened for a little while, but still, it occurs more than she'd like to admit.

"May I sit with you?" Nayeon stands a mere two feet away from the bench, hands clasped behind her back as a soft look rests on her features.

A nod of Y/N's head is all the confirmation the demon receives.

Keeping her movements light, Nayeon slowly takes a seat on the opposite side of the bench that Y/N's sitting on.

Nayeon's hands rest in her lap as she folds them over one another, crossing her legs after.

A minute passes in silence. Then another, and another, with Y/N still staring intently at that fountain. That is, until Nayeon's gentle voice calling out to her manages to pull Y/N out of her thoughts once more.

"What seems to be on your mind, my love?"

A long sigh escapes Y/N's nose as she exhales, chest deflating with her breath as her thumbs begin to run over each other slowly.

Y/N notice she has Nayeon's complete and utter attention as Nayeon turns slightly to face her, the concern clear in the girl's eyes.

"I just-" Y/N let out another sigh, seemingly searching for the right words. Her lips part, before closing again, until she finally settles on what it is that she want to say. "I am overwhelmed."

Immediately, Nayeon's sitting upright, worried clearly on her features as she reaches out for Y/N. Only, she stops herself halfway, unsure of whether or not Y/N would want her touch comforting her, or even if Y/N would let her.

"Have we done something to upset you?" The question is posed in a concerned tone, Nayeon needing to know what's wrong, and how she can fix it as soon as possible.

"No, no," Y/N shakes her head. "Please, do not misunderstand. I don't think I've ever been happier in my entire life."

Slowly, carefully, Nayeon reaches over to place a caring hand on top of Y/N's own, which hasn't seemed to stop nervously toying with each other since before she arrived.

Y/N freezes slightly, but does not shy away from Nayeon's touch as she finally looks up to meet her gaze.

"Then, what could be bothering you so greatly, my love?" Nayeon's voice is soft, the thumb of her one hand tracing over the skin of Y/N's own.

Once more, Y/N averted her gaze to her lap, staring intently at Nayeon's hand resting over her own.

At the way Nayeon seems to halt her movement of her thumb over the skin of the back of Y/N's hand, Y/N can tell that Nayeon's probably about to pull away from her.
