Part 22

The next morning, Y/N ended up sleeping in a bit longer than usual.

A fact which she knows is due to how calm she's starting to feel while continuously staying inside this house with them. Though, there is a part of her that wishes to go out, and soon at that. The last thing she wants is to only be allowed around inside the house. She could really use some fresh air.

Which is exactly why when Jennie offers to take her out of the house for the day, she accepted.

The silence that had settled over the kitchen when Jennie walked in to see Y/N sitting at the counter and conversing softly with Rosé and Irene was nerve wracking to say the least.

That was, until Y/N gave a gentle nod in her direction, acknowledging her presence. Jennie was over the moon at that. At least Y/N wasn't ignoring her, even if Y/N immediately started thinking about that damned void stronger than before.

Jennie posed the question before either of her two sisters could open their mouths, given that Y/N seemed to be hinting at wanting to get out of the house. Besides, the she has been planning a special day trip for both of them for a while. This was simply the opportunity Jennie had been waiting for.

The seven seconds it took for Y/N to give her an answer felt like an eternity.

Here Jennie was, extending a hand out to Y/N to spend some time with her, of which Y/N could readily deny in a heartbeat. In front of her sisters, no less. Sisters which Y/N seem to be slowly getting closer to day by day.

To say Jennie was a little nervous would have been a huge understatement. Especially when she couldn’t read Y/N's thoughts to gage what she was thinking. Which is why when that confirmation left Y/N's lips, somewhat hesitant but eager at the same time, Jennie felt like her heart was about to burst right out of her chest.

The fact that a soft smile was tugging onto Y/N's features made it all more special to Jennie.

Finally, Jennie could spend the day with her and prove to her honey just how well she can treat her. She just hopes Y/N enjoy what she has planned.

“Just let me grab my jacket.” Hopping off of the stool, Y/N's quick to exit the kitchen, a much too eager spring to her step.

Rosé chuckles, clapping Jennie on the shoulder. “Good luck, Jennie.”

Irene sends her a reassuring smile as Jennie nods, following in Y/N's footsteps mere moments afterwards. She decides she’ll wait for Y/N in the foyer since that’s where Y/N will probably go after grabbing her jacket.

Sure enough, not even a minute later, Y/N is walking out of the hallway and towards her.

That giddiness is still visible in Y/N's step, but there’s also a hint of caution. A fact which squeezes Jennie's heart uncomfortably as Y/N approached her.

“Ready to go?” Jennie asks, extending her hand out for Y/N to take.

Y/N nodded, but didn’t move to grab Jennie's hand. Instead, she opted to eye the demon warily. “Where, exactly, are you taking me?”

Jennie smiles. “You’ll see.” she answered simply. She can still sense the hesitation and uncertainty radiating off of Y/N, and it pains her to know that she only feels this way around her still.
