[Lab]
After Fitz informs us on the 084, Coulson goes to the cockpit to inform HQ while May flies us out of there. Simmons, Skye, and I are in the lab, "Not to worry. The device is stable" Simmons lifts it up, "Not that it couldn't explode at any minute especially if hit with machine-gun fire. But things like this happen from time to time when in the field. And at first, it's very unpleasant, and you regret your decision to leave the lab at all" Simmons rambles
Then Fitz and Ward walk in, "Are you mental? I did explain in great detail exactly what I mean using the Queen's bloody English!" Fitz yells
"I use normal English. Word like duck and run and might blow us to pieces" Ward says
"Oh, wow—wow. Congratulations, Agent Ward. You managed to string three word together in a sentence" Fitz says back
Fitz and Ward start arguing back and forth causing me to roll my eyes, "Will you guys calm the hell down?" I ask but am ignored
"I don't understand anything you're saying!" Ward yells
Then Coulson walks in and they stop, "Do we have a problem in here?" Coulson asks
"No, sir. Just working on our communication. Not everyone was prepared for a firefight" Ward says
"Nice cover" I whisper but Skye jabs me in the ribs
"We got out, didn't lose anyone, saved a few of theirs. I'd say we did all right. Anything else?" He asks
Skye raises her hand, "Uh, yeah, I have a small question. Because I've been feeling like the tag-along, hayseed rookie, but now I get the sense that Ward doesn't know which one's Simmons and which one's Fitz, and they've seen even less gunfire than me. King seems to try to be a peacemaker but annoys Ward more than I do. And I'm no rocket scientist, but is this your first mission together?" Skye asks
"No, of course not. It's our second" Simmons says
Skye looks at me, "I was your first? That's sweet" She says
"You're amused?" Ward asks
"I'm terrified! I am in way over my head, but I've been on this team just as long as any of you. I might as well be team captain" Simmons scoffs, "Just joking. But maybe that's not a bad idea, because these guys do not like each other very much" Skye says
"Not entirely true, I like Fitzsimmons" I whisper
"This isn't about that. I am a specialist. Today I could have eliminated the enemy threat myself if I was working alone, but I had non-combat ready agents—" Ward says before Fitz interrupts him
"Whoa, whoa, wait. You work alone?" Fitz asks
"It's so typical. Who do you think designs your equipment?" Simmons asks
"Or the polymers for your weaponry?" Fitz asks
"Yeah, well, try going into the field with just your bare bum!" Simmons yells
"People like us do it" Fitz says
Skye walks over to Coulson, "You're not the only specialist on the team, Ward. At least I know the value in team work" I tell him
He walks closer to me, "You sure about that? The only reason you're still here is because of little miss hacker over there" He says gesturing to Skye
I take a step closer, "Ward, I would shut your mouth if I were you" I warn
"See them proving the point I just made?" Skye asks Coulson
"You're not wrong. We still need to iron out the kinks. But, Ward, you can speak six languages. King, you can speak eight languages and take out six enemies before the first one drops"
"That's hot" Skye whispers causing me to smirk
We all look at her, "Was that out loud?" She asks causing us to nod our heads before Coulson continues, "Simmons, you have two PHD's in fields I can't pronounce, and Fitz, you are a rocket scientist. So work it out" Coulson says before he walks out
"I'm...I'm good at stuff too!" Skye yells to him
[Later On]
I'm in my bunk, relaxing before I decide to walk out and get something to drink. As I'm about to, I see Ward and Skye talking, "You and I see the world differently, is all" Ward sighs, "Look what I said earlier about Agent King, I—" He starts but she cuts him off
"It's okay, it was pretty heated back there" She tells him
Then I walk out, "Don't mean to interrupt, just grabbing a drink" I say
"You're not interrupting" Ward says
"Yeah, Cass come join us" Skye says, the nickname rolling off her tongue with ease
I smile before I sit down next to Ward as she pours me a drink, "Thanks" I tell her
"So, I've never been in a war zone during a war. Till today. That was crazy. Take it you two have seen that a lot?" Skye asks
Ward and I sigh before we down our drink. As we place the cup down we both grunt, "What...Did you two get shot?" Skye asks
"Skin-deep, nothing to worry about" Ward says
"Yeah, nothing I haven't experienced before" I tell her
"You both got shot. Did that happen protecting us?" Skye asks
We both give her a smile, "I said don't worry about it" Ward says
"We're fine, Skye" I tell her
"Well, no wonder you two were so pissed" Skye says
"I wasn't pissed. I was trained to be the whole solution. To eliminate variables. And today, they keep adding up" Ward says
Ward and I look at the Peruvian soldiers, "We're turning" Skye says
"We've entered restricted airspace, so we have to follow certain flight paths. It's regulation. This plane is capable of fully automated flight, but May has to be on the stick herself tonight" Ward says
"You've got an S.O, May's got to be on the stick. Lots of good lingo on this plane" Skye says
"Yeah. And we just can't seem to understand each other" I say
As we are sitting there, Ward and I are studying the two soldiers near us. We notice that the drink hasn't been touched once and they are nodding to each other. I look at Ward and we both have the same idea, "Skye, hand me the bottle" Ward says
"Okay, Turbo. But you're still nursing the one you got" Skye says
She hands him the bottle, "He's not the only one" I tell her, gesturing to the soldiers
Ward and I stand up, I push Skye out of the way before Ward takes on the first soldier, "King get to May!" Ward yells out
I try to get past the other soldier but he blocks me. We start throwing punches before I knock him down and land a few more punches. I look up to see Ward on the ground as Coulson comes down. We look at the monitor to see one of the soldiers has a knife to Fitz's throat. Then the other soldier grabs Skye, "We were allies. We had history. When did you decide to throw that away?" Coulson asks
"As soon as I saw your team" Camilla says
