Finally Falling

Chapter 2

I walked with Skye and Agent Koenig towards Vault D, "There's an inertial confinement laser barrier down there, which is cool. Now this button turns it soundproof. This button makes it opaque" He explains as we make it to the door

He hands her the tablet, "Just tell me there isn't an off button I can accidentally hit" She says

"You'll be safe. I promise" He tells her

I place a kiss on her cheek, "You got this" I whisper

She takes a breath before opening the door and walking in. I look at Koenig, "She's definitely safe, right?" I ask him

"Absolutely" He says

"Good. Now I know there's cameras down there, patch me into the feed" I tell him

He gives me a look, "The Director didn't—" I tilt my head and cross my arms, "Follow me" He says before walking away

I follow him up to Coulson's office, "I had a feeling you'd want to watch this" Coulson says

I look at the screen to see Ward standing in his cell across from Skye, "Aren't you a sight for sore eyes" I tense at the sound of his voice and I can only imagine what Skye is feeling. Skye is sat in the chair, "I told Coulson weeks ago that I was willing to speak to you...to give you intelligence. Why now? Something bad happen?" He asks

"Carl Creel. Garrett reported him dead. Turns out he's alive. Do you have any information on that?" Skye says simply

"How have you been? How's King?" He asks

"My girlfriend's wishing she killed you when she had the chance" She tells him

He scoffs, "Girlfriend, huh? I didn't think she'd ever tell you how she feels because she's such a pathetic—" He said and my hands turned into fists

"Talk about her like that again and I'll make sure she puts a bullet through your skull" Skye tells him

Skye stands up and goes to walk away, I can tell she's becoming frustrated, "Okay, wait. The name sounds familiar. Do you have a picture?" He asks stopping Skye

She turns around and walks closer to the cell before holding the tablet out to show him. He walks closer until the laser field crackles. Skye looks down at his wrist, "Coulson didn't tell you. I went through a...rough stretch. First pair of pants they gave me had a...a button on the back. They took that away. But you fold a piece of paper just right, it gets sharp. When they took that away, I started running at the walls" He explains, showing his scars

"You should have run faster" Skye tells him

I let out a short laugh, "That's my girl" I whisper

"I'm through all that. When I came out of sedation, I was clear headed, accepting...of who I am, what I've done, and why" He says

"You sure about this?" May asks, "Give Ward exactly what he wants? Of course he said he'd only talk to Skye. He wants to fill her head with lies"

"He hasn't lied yet" Coulson says

"Your arms tell a different story. I see May's training you. She's got you favoring your left side first cause you're right handed. Smart" He says

"I'm gonna say this once. I'm not gonna believe a word that comes out of your mouth. But if a single word is about anything other than the question I am asking. I walk" She tells him
"Okay" He takes a step back, "Creel was a boxer, nicknamed the Crusher. Turns out any opponent has a glass jaw when you have steel fists under your gloves. Garrett thought he'd be an asset. Now, once Creel touches a substance, he can absorb it and somehow consciously transform the molecules of his body into that substance. He wouldn't tell us how, but he enjoys the way it feels...almost as much as he enjoys killing" He explains
