Coulson, May, and Ward just got back from the mission with the undercover SHIELD agent. They're extracting the data he collected before Coulson walks up. I was sitting with Skye and Fitz when Fitz walks over to Coulson, "Ah. Good, you're done with that paranasal extraction nonsense. Do you need me to analyze the data?" Fitz asks as Skye and I stand up
"That won't be necessary" Coulson says
"If it's encrypted, I can mine the chip for him" Skye says
Coulson turns towards us as Ward and May join, "I'm afraid this mission's classified. Clearance Level 8" Coulson says
We all nod our heads as Coulson walks away and we go to walk away, "Wait, what? He can just shut us out of the process like that?" Skye asks
"Well, he did say the mission is Level 8" Fitz says
"And we're not. So we can't know about it" Simmons says
"Right, but this is normally the part where we all stand around the holocom and we learn about stuff. I mean, aren't we all on the same team?" Skye asks
"No need to get started on one of your socialist riffs" Fitz says
"SHIELD's whole infrastructure is based on the hierarchy and compartmentalization of intelligence" Simmons says before her and Fitz walk away
"Every agent can't have the intel on every mission. Makes the entire organization vulnerable" Ward tells her
"Okay, fine, but if I just fought my way out of an underground Siberian prison, I'd kind of want to know what for" Skye says
"Coulson's got you used to the plane, the way we do missions here" May says
"The Hub is different" I say
"Then Hub? What's the Hub?" Skye asks as we walk away
[The Hub: Location Classified]
We're walking the halls of The Hub, "I didn't realize Big Brother was this big" Skye says
"Oh, this is nothing. Wait until you see the Triskelion" Simmons says
"Everyone's wearing the same suit. Someone tell me why, please?" Skye asks
We grab our badges from off the receptionist desk, "Do I get one?" Skye asks
Coulson points to her bracelet, "That's your badge. Which means you've got a long way to go to even make Level 1" Coulson says
"Copy that" Skye says
I tune out after that as we keep walking, "Agent Sitwell" Coulson says
"Agent Coulson. Good to see you're feeling better. Agent Hand's waiting for you in the situation room" Sitwell says
We follow behind him, "Your level 7's can join us in the briefing room" Sitwell says
They scan in and when Skye tries to her bracelet attaches too the scanner, "Is this your subtle way of saying I can't come with?" She asks Coulson
"We'll be back" Coulson turns to me, "Stay with her" He tells me
I nod my head as Skye scoffs, "Come on, let's go take a walk" I tell her
Fitzsimmons went to check out the tech and science center while Skye and I walked around, "This is ridiculous, why can't we all know?" Skye groans
"It's just how SHIELD operates, a need to know system, compartmentalized" I tell her
"But it's not right, if it involves our team, we should all know about it" She tells me
I stop her and look at her, "Look it may not seem right but this is SHIELD. It's different when we're on the plane, we can play your own set of rules, but here" I gesture around us, "The Hub, it's a completely different ball game" I tell her
