[Cargo Hold]
After we've been flying, Coulson gets called down to the lab because Simmons finds something about the virus. Then we are all called down and see Simmons locked in the lab and Fitz sitting outside of it, "Simmons believes she contracted the virus approximately 36 hours ago when she received an electrostatic shock from the first victim" Coulson explains
"How much time does she have?" Skye asks
"Based on when the firemen were infected, how quickly their symptoms manifested...two hours at most" Coulson says
"That's enough time, right? I mean, SHIELD has dozens of labs and scientists working on this thing, don't they?" Skye asks frantic
"They do. How soon can you get us on the ground?" Coulson asks May
"Three hours. Our path to the Sandbox has us right in the middle of the Atlantic" May says
I see Skye get teared up so I place my hand on her shoulder, "Sir, correct me if I'm wrong, but if we can't land in time..." Ward starts
"Simmons will release a pulse that will blow this plane right out of the sky" Coulson says
"We can't just sit here and watch her die. We have to do something" Skye says
"There's only one person on this plan capable of finding a solution for this, and I'm willing to bet my life that she will" Coulson says as we look at Simmons
"She's just a kid" May says
[Command Center]
I am standing in command center watching the lab feed, "Why aren't you down there?" Skye asks
"They don't need an audience" I say
Skye goes to walk away, "You can stay. If you want" I say
She walks back in and stands next to me, "I hate this. I just feel so..." Skye says
"Helpless" I say finishing her thought
"Yeah" Skye says
"I wanted it to be a person. Some super powered psychopath. Someone I could hurt. Someone I could punish. That I could do. What I can't do is protect you guys from stuff I can't even see. Or understand" I say getting angry and tears form in my eyes
"So what do we do?" Skye asks
I look at her and push back tears, "We wait and get ready" I tell her
"Ready for what?" She asks
"For whatever it is we're called upon to do" I say
[Later On]
I couldn't watch it anymore so I'm standing with Skye and Coulson when we see Fitz run away with the Chitauri box, "Isn't that..." Skye starts
"Fitz!" Coulson and I yell
We follow him down to the lab to see him inside before we watch them work. Skye is pacing back and forth as Ward joins us downstairs. Coulson and Ward are pacing while Skye is standing near the door. I'm leaning against the staircase, tapping my foot, repeatedly.
Then we see them get the third serum done and Fitz injects the rat, "I can't breathe" Skye whispers
I place my hand on her shoulder as we watch the rat and it doesn't die then a second later it floats like the others, "No" I whisper
I see Skye take a shaky breathe before Simmons walks over, "Sir, I know the protocol in these circumstances, but could you please tell my dad first? I just think my mum would take it better if it comes from him" She tells him
"We're not there yet. There's still time" Coulson says
"Sir, please?" He nods his head before she turns to us, "Would you mind if I had a brief moment alone with Fitz?" She asks
We nod our heads and I wrap my arm around Skye, pulling her into me as we walk upstairs, "Let's go" Coulson whispers
We're in the command center, I'm still near Skye, "Agent Blake is on the line. He wants to know what's going on. If you won't answer, he asked for Ward" May says walking in
"Sur, what are our orders?" Ward asks
Coulson looks at us, "They're unchanged" Coulson says
Then an alarm blares, "What is that?" Skye asks
May goes on the screen, "Someone's lowering the cargo hold ramp" May says
Ward and I look at each other before I take off running down towards the cargo hold. I jump off the top of the staircase as I see Fitz grabbing a parachute, "The anti-serum works, but she jumped!" He yells
I take the parachute and serum from him before I jump out of the plane. I get the parachute clipped onto me before I search the sky for Jemma. I find her before I dive down towards her. I get down to her before I grab onto her and inject her with the anti-serum before releasing the parachute as the pulse emits.
[Coulson's Office]
Simmons and I are in Coulson's office, "Don't get me wrong! I'm happy you're both alive. Truly. And I realize you were trying to save the team. But what you did today, that was not your call. Just getting you out of the water, do you have any idea what a pain it is dealing with the Moroccan office? Don't you ever pull a stunt like that again! We'd hate to lose you, Jemma" Coulson tells us
"Thank you, sir" Coulson sits down before I go to walk out, "Oh, does that mean we're to leave now?" Simmons asks
Coulson gives her a look before we walk down the stairs, "So, what'd you think of your first time sky diving?" I ask
"Honestly, I'd rather not think about it anymore" Simmons says
"I thought what you did was incredibly brave" I say
She stops walking, "Oh. Well, I suppose now's as good a time as any to tell you that I may have misled you and Ward earlier. You see, when I gave you two back the Night Night pistol, I lied. It's still an ounce off" She tells me
"I know" I say
"You do?" She asks
"Of course. After all..." I deepen my voice slightly, "I'm Agent Cassandra King, I just jumped out of a plane without a parachute on and saved your life" I say
Ward walks over, "And I'm Agent Grant Ward, I'm a rule following SHIELD agent" He says deepening his voice too
"Actually, that's not quite it. It's a bit more nasal than that" We chuckle then we turn to see Skye, "Oh. Hello, Skye" Skye quickly walks over, I can see the tears in her eyes before she pulls Simmons into a hug, "Oh" Simmons says hugging her back
Later on, I'm laying down in bed before there's a knock on my bunk door, "Come in" I look up and see Skye, "Hey Skye" I say
She walks over, "Can I sit?" She asks
I nod my head before I sit up next to her, "Everything okay?" I ask
She nods her head, "You know it was crazy to jump out of the plane without your parachute on" She tells me
"Yeah but Simmons was in trouble, I had to protect her" I tell her
She looks at me, "Thank you for saving her" She says
"I'd do it again for any of you" I say
She smiles, "I'd don't know what I'd do if I lost any of you" She whispers
"Well good for you, you'll never find out cause we're not going anywhere" I tell her
She leans in and kisses my cheek, "You're one amazing person, Cassandra King" She tells me
I try my best not to blush as I smile at her, "So are you, Skye" I tell her
