Chapter 8: "Is it such a bad thing?"

(Authors note: Hope is around 8 months old now)

Katrina has been helping Hayley with Hope since Klaus is being "King of New Orleans". Katrina is feeding Hope, Hope is flaying her arms around happy since she's getting food.

Hayley stands and watched the interaction smiling softly at them both, Katrina and Hayley have grown a bit fonder over the last months mostly because of Hope.

As Katrina feeds Hope, Katrina starts making airplane noises which makes Hope more eager to eat. Hayley laughs softly at Katrina's airplane noises, Katrina hears this and flips Hayley off.

Hayley does a sarcastic and slightly dramatic gasp and says through laughter "There is a baby in front of you, I don't think you should be teaching her such vulgar things" Hayley says half jokingly. Katrina put her hand down and continues feeding Hope with airplane noises.

"Your really good with kids....you know for a sociopath" Hayley says the last part jokingly. Katrina is more focused on feeding Hope at that moment but Hayley doesn't mind, as much as she won't admit it she enjoys Katrina's company, even with all the snarky and sarcastic replies and random fits of anger, Hayley knows Katrina has a soft heart even if Katrina would rather die than admit it.

Hope is cooing happily while getting fed, Katrina scraps whatever's left of it and feeds it too Hope. Once Hope swallows her food she starts to make noises "...Ma....maaaaa" Katrina tilts her head at this "You're not a sheep, littlest wolf" Katrina says to Hope as if talking to an adult. "Maaaa...maaaa.....mama!" Hope says Hayley and Katrina both freeze.

"Did-...did she just call you Mama?" Hayley says giggling, Katrina looks at Hayley who's in fits of giggles "I can't believe she thinks your her mom" Hayley says still giggling "Is it such a bad thing" Katrina replies jokingly, Hayley nudges Katrina.

Hope starts to giggle seeing Hayley giggle, Katrina smiles softly at Hope's giggling, Hayley notices Katrina's smile "That's the first time I've ever seen you smile...you know like actually smile and not some sadistic ass one" Hayley says smiling at Katrina, Katrina stops smiling feeling insecure about it. "You should smile more....it's beautiful" Hayley says softly.

This puts a little smile on Katrina's face, Katrina turns back to Hope and goes to the side of her high chair and puts her hands on her knees and looks at Hope and then point at Hayley "That is your mama" Katrina says to Hope still as if talking to an adult but in a way teasing Hayley.

Hope looks at Hayley and then Katrina and then puts one arm in the direction of Hayley and the other of Katrina "Mama!" Hayley laughs at this "I think she thinks we're both her mothers" Katrina chuckles softly "Klaus is going to be pissed" Katrina says softly.

"Why because she called you mama?" Hayley asks confused, Katrina shakes her head "No because her first word was mama" Katrina says softly, it seems to just dawn on Hayley that was Hopes first word.

"Holy- that was her first word! Oh my god!" Hayley says smiling brightly at Katrina and turns to Hope and picks Hope up happily, "You really want to pick her up, she's covered in baby food" Katrina says chuckling softly. "Well it's not my fault you have terrible aim" Hayley teases "I have great aim, to let you know" Katrina says back "The food over Hopes face says otherwise" Hayley teases back.

Katrina laughs at this her laugh is soft and warm, Hayley gasps dramatically at this "Oh my god! Your laughing now too! I'm not sure who to be more proud of, my daughter for saying her first word or you for not being all gloomy for once. I think Hope is turning you soft" Hayley teases.

Katrina gasps sarcastically at this "That is too far, little wolf" Katrina teases back, Katrina is in a good mood which is a mood anyone rarely sees, Hayley chuckles softly as she holds Hope in her arms, she turns to Hope "Who said their first word? You did! Yes you did!" Hayley says to Hope in a baby voice.

Hope giggles happily that she's made her mother proud but Katrina on the other hand bursts into laughter hearing Hayley's baby voice.

Hayley rolls her eyes playfully at Katrina. "And you thought me making airplane noises was funny" Katrina teases having calming herself down, "Yes I did, and it's normal too speak to a baby in a baby voice then it is too speak to them like an adult" Hayley teases back.

"Yeah okay, fair enough" Katrina chuckles still smiling, which warms Hayley's heart. Suddenly Elijah walks in, hearing all the giggling and laughing "What's going on in here?" He asks in his normal polite tone.

"Hope said her first word!" Hayley exclaims, "Oh? And what was her first word?" Elijah asks intrigued. "Mama" Hayley says excitedly, Elijah chuckles seeing Hayley's excitement, He looks over at Katrina who seems just as excited and smiling.

"There's my little sisters smile" Elijah says to Katrina he's happy that she's smiling, Katrina looks down smiling still.

Elijah chuckles softly "If I didn't know any better I'd say our little niece here is making you soft" Elijah says in a slightly teasing tone, Katrina looks up "She is not!" Katrina replies defensively, "Sure whatever you say, little sister" Elijah replies in a teasing sarcastic tone, "I will stab you" Katrina says back in a slightly more serious tone but it's still teasing, "Never said you wouldn't, little one" Elijah teases bit is also a bit serious knowing Katrina would in fact stab him.

Hayley chuckles at the siblings squabbling, Hope also giggles but most likely because Hayley is. Elijah nudges Katrina teasingly, Katrina nudges back.

Elijah chuckles softly "I'm going to leave you three alone now, because I don't trust Klaus to be alone nor do I you that's why Hayley and Hope are looking after you" he teases Katrina before walking out the room, Katrina hits his arm playfully as he does.

Katrina is laughing at hers and her brother's interaction, Hayley smiles softly at Katrina. "What?" Katrina asks after calming down and noticing Hayley's soft smile "You have a beautiful laugh....and smile" Hayley says softly, Katrina smiles at this "So do you" Katrina replies back in a soft tone.
