Chapter 15: Family Dinner

Hope, Hayley and Katrina walks downstairs, Hope sits in between Elijah and Freya, Katrina and Hayley sit opposite them and Klaus sits at the head of the table.

The table is filled with food that looks delicious.

Just before they all start eating, the dining room doors burst open and Rebekah walks in.

"Thought you could have a family dinner without me" Rebekah says in her usual snarky tone.

Katrina's eyes light up at the sight of her little sister " Rebekah!" She gets up and hugs Rebekah tightly.

Rebekah smiles "Which one of you broke my sister?" Rebekah says sarcastically.

Katrina rolls her eyes, Rebekah notices a small mark on Katrina's shoulder and raises an eyebrow.

Rebekah smirks and whispers in Katrina's ear "Someone's had fun I see" she smirks and sits down at the other end of the table.

Katrina sits back down next to Hayley, Hayley also notices the mark and smirks knowing she was the one who made it.

Katrina pulls her jacket over her shoulder no one notices.

They all start eating, Katrina doesn't eat though.

Freya grows concerned "Why aren't you eating?" Freya asks softly her tone laced with concern.

Katrina looks up, "Oh right... yeah eating" Katrina puts some food on her plate.

Freya smiles hoping that it was just the fact Katrina forgot to eat instead of there being an underlying issue.

About 10 minutes of everyone eating Kol walks in, late as always.

Katrina looks at him "You're late, brother" she says sternly, Kol just smiles at her.

"I got stuck in traffic" Kol replies as if it was some sort of reward, Katrina narrows her eyes and goes back to eating.

Kol sits next to Hayley and puts some food on his plate not even questioning the fact they're eating 'human food'.

Hope smiles "This is really good auntie Freya!" She exclaims her mouth filled with food.

Freya laughs softly "Thank you dear, just remember not too talk with your mouth full" Freya says laughing softly.

Hope nods her head, Hayley laughs at her child's antics, but notices Katrina looks somewhat upset.

Hayley holds Katrina's hand under the table, which cause a slight smile from Katrina.

Half way through dinner, Klaus stands up and taps his champagne glass.

Everyone looks over, "I would like to make a toast!" He says loud and proud.

"Of course you do" Katrina mutters under her breath, only Hayley hears her and snicker and kicks Katrina's leg playfully as if telling her to stop.

Klaus continues "As we all know I am now King of New Orleans, which in turn makes my darling little twin the queen" Katrina rolls her eyes at being called a queen.

Klaus goes on "So along with that, I would like to thank you for being by my side 'Always and Forever'...even though I daggered most of you" he says the last bit under his breath so Hope doesn't hear him.

Everyone nods their heads, Kol claps in a sarcastic manner and everyone returns to eating, wondering what the whole point of that toast was.

Hayley is still holding Katrina's hand under the table rubbing in between her thumb and index finger with her thumb.

Meanwhile on the other side of the table, Rebekah and Kol are arguing about who's the better looking sibling.

"Oh, shut up Kol, we all know I'm the best looking one here" Rebekah says, she's only trying to mess with Kol.

Kol raises his eyebrows in shock "Nonsense, everyone knows I am!" Kol argues.

Katrina overhears this and chuckles which gives Rebekah a better idea.

"Actually, I change my mind..." Rebekah says smirking, Kol speaks up "So your going to admit I'm the best looking one?" Kol says smugly not even asking it like a question and more like a statement.

Rebekah shakes her head "Nope, actually Katrina is the best looking one" Rebekah says innocently as if she hasn't been trying to get under Kol's skin this entire time.

Katrina looks over Kol goes to argue but can't, because Katrina is drop dead gorgeous, so the two stop arguing and Katrina goes back to staring at the food on her plate.

Hayley squeezes Katrina's hand under the table, Freya and Rebekah are whispering to each other and Hope is eating, Klaus is just being silent and watching everything but can't see Hayley and Katrina hold hands.

Rebekah laughs and nods at what Freya just told her, Katrina narrows her eyes at them but then goes back to looking at her food.

Hayley starts to grow concerned and when no one is looking she kisses Katrina's neck softly.

No one notices not even Klaus because he's more concerned in listing at what Freya and Rebekah are saying.

Katrina smiles softly and then hears Hayley whisper in her ear "That's going to go to waste if you don't eat it" Hayley whispers, "It's going to go to waste in my stomach too" Katrina whispers back suddenly upset.

Hayley notices there's something on Katrina's mind, since she's not her usual not too sad not too happy self.

Hayley whispers in Katrina's ear, "Do you wanna go to bed?" She asks softly, Katrina nods and looks around at the family.

"I'm going to bed" Katrina says to the family, Freya has a concerned look on her face.

"Night" Kol says in a smug voice trying to act cool.

Once everybody has said good night to Katrina, she walks up stairs into her room and plops on the bed, and puts her hand in her face.

Soon Hayley walks in and lays down next to Katrina and holds her close to her chest.

"Your suffocating me" Katrina says sarcastically, her mood lifting.

"Too bad" Hayley replies also sarcastically laughing softly.

Hayley starts stroking Katrina's hair which causes Katrina to start to drift off, and cuddle closer to Hayley but not wanting to go to sleep just in case Hayley goes somewhere.

"Go to sleep, I'm not going anywhere, I promise" Hayley whispers softly still stroking Katrina's hair.

Katrina falls asleep in Hayley's arms.
