Chapter 26: Easy

Katrina is now in the woods, crying her eyes out.

She gets a call from Klaus but she ignores it and accidentally breaks the phone with how tight she's holding it.

She starts pacing, her breathing is rapid, all she can think about is how she's lost Hayley.

"Maybe I shouldn't have gotten with her" she thinks to herself, "God this is all my fault".

Katrina sobs loudly, she washed over with a strong feeling of guilt, pain and self-hatred.

"I'm such an idiot" all Katrina can think about is how she thinks it's her fault.

She continues to walk through the woods, she can hear something behind her.

She doesn't think much of it because if it was there too kill her that's what she wanted.

She wanted to die, to end her misery, to end the cycle of 1000 years of pain and torture.

"Why can't Mikael just come back and stake me" she thinks to herself again.

"Why couldn't I just stay dead" is all she can think.

Her hands start shaking, and she wraps her arms around herself, as if trying to comfort herself.

She sobs uncontrollably, but she still walks deeper into the woods.

She hears a familiar voice behind her "Katrina...."

Katrina turns around her eyes widen when she sees who it is.

"Hayley..." she says softly, "God Hayley" she mutters, and runs to her and hugs her tightly.

Hayley hugs her back, stroking her hair softly, "I-I- I thought I lost you I-" Katrina stammers.

"I saw you die in front of me...How-?" Katrina pulls back slightly and looks at Hayley.

"You can't get rid of me that easily" Hayley says with a soft smile, still stroking Katrina's hair.

"So you weren't actually..." Katrina has a confused look on her face, "Dead? No" Hayley states and chuckles softly.

Katrina looks at her for a moment before hitting the back of Hayley's head playfully.

"Don't you ever scare me like that again, you bloody asshole" Katrina laughs, Hayley notices her English accent is thicker.

Hayley wipes the tears from Katrina's cheeks, "I won't, I promise" Hayley says and then suddenly kisses Katrina.

Katrina is surprised by this but kisses back.

Once Hayley pulls away, she notices how much more dilated Katrina's pupils are.

Hayley chuckles softly at this "Seems like you enjoyed that" Hayley teases.

Katrina gives her a playful glare, before then smiling softly at her.

Katrina rests her head on Hayley's shoulder, "Your lucky I love you otherwise I would've killed you for scaring me like that" Katrina murmurs into her shoulder.

Hayley smiles, "I know, I know..." she rests her head on Katrina's.

They stay like that for a few moments, "We should go home...and maybe then I can apologise properly for scaring you" Hayley says with a smirk.

Katrina rolls her eyes playfully "Stop trying to seduce me" she says bluntly but Hayley can tell it's teasing.

"Awwwh, why?" "Because it's not working" Katrina says now with a teasing smile.

"Besides where the hell are we supposed to go, those bastards said they couldn't find my siblings" Katrina says now standing up straight.

Hayley shrugs her shoulders and then she looks at Katrina, "Everyone knows the only way to kill a hybrid is through either ripping their heart out or ripping their head off".

Katrina looks at her confused, "Yeah? Anddd...?" "And they were vampires they should've known that" Hayley explains.

Katrina nods "But you were dead...?" "For an hour..." Hayley explains.

Katrina shakes her head, "Can you just get too the point" she says bluntly.

"The point is, what if Klaus or something had gotten them to do that too scare you..." Hayley explains as if she explaining to a child.

Katrina nods "Klaus wouldn't do that...but Finn would..." Katrina's tone switches to angry within a second.

Hayley notices this "Hey, Hey...You and I both know how much of a prankster Finn is-" Katrina cuts her off.

"It's not funny" Katrina blurts out "I know, but your giving him what he wants, which is a reaction so just calm down and breathe"

Katrina listens to Hayley and eventually calms down, "Your right...so you think their still in New Orleans?" Katrina asks.

"Only one way to find out" Hayley says hopefully.

They soon find they're way back to Victor and Victorias bar, they get in the car and drive home to New Orleans.

Once they're outside the doorstep, they look at each other before Katrina unlocks the door and walks in.

They both sigh of relief once they see Freya and Hope sleeping on the couch, with the TV still playing.

Katrina nudges Freya awake, "Hm? What?" Freya mumbles as she's waking up.

Hayley takes Hope to bed, Katrina looks at Freya, "Big sister, wake up" Katrina says still nudging Freya.

"I am awake" Freya yawns, Freya looks at the time 11:42pm.

She turns too Katrina "You should go to sleep" Freya's tone has switched to a motherly one.

Katrina nods "Goodnight big sister" Katrina says while walking up the stairs.

"Goodnight" Freya calls back before walking up the stairs herself and going to bed.

Katrina falls asleep quickly, the crying and such has exhausted her.
