Eleazar's pov

"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Newt held his hands up and stopped me midsentance. "El what you are talking about could lead to some very complex chains of reaction." I shut my mouth and sat back in my chair. Newt sipped his tea and took a deep breath. "You want to.."

I grinned, "get me and my mum's magic back, of course."

"You both have your magic,"

I nodded and pushed down one of his nifflers that was trying to steal my pocket watch. "Yes. But since all that happened with Isadora years ago our magic hasn't been at the level it used to be. That tiny bit of dark magic I used to have is completely gone. No eye glow. Poor mum can't even open doors like she could before."  Newt rolled his eyes as he started rolling up his sleeves. "We are users of ancient magic. We should be able to use it properly. I already spoke to Cerus. He thinks it's a great idea."

"Cerus Winters idolizes you. And Professor Sallow, of course he'd agree with you." Newt walked deeper into his little suit case vivarium and started picking up nifflers and niffler babies before shoving them back into their enclosure.

I grabbed the one that was dead set on stealing my pocket watch and handed him to Newt once he was ready.

"How can I be a keeper if I can't even protect Hogwarts properly?" I asked him.

"Does the professor even want that much magic back?" Newt asked making me want to not be in the room suddenly. "Have you even asked her?"

I shrugged, "well, I believe she wants it back."

"And what did Anne say?"

"Oh you know how Anne is. She's learning still about what ever is happening to her. Blue glowing eyes instead of red, what a show off." I scoffed and ran my fingers through my hair. "Even if it's not for my Mum.. I want my magic back." Ugh. I hated sounding sad. I'm supposed to be cool all the time.

Newt sighed and glanced at me. "El... you are my best friend. You know I'll support you no matter what. Even if it's absolutely mental. But.. maybe..speak to your mum," newt shrugged.

"She wouldn't understand." I sighed.

"She might. She is the reason Hogwarts has a tighter lock on the restricted section."

"That might be my dad actually,"

"Just ask. You are an adult, so even if she says no, you can do it anyway." Newt opened the mouth of a creature I'd never even seen before and stuck his head in as he started brushing its teeth.

"Newt what is that?" I asked.

"I'm not entirely sure yet?" His voice seemed to echo as he spoke with his head in its mouth.

"Should you put your head in there?"

"Should you be avoiding talking to your mother?"  He asked back.
