Eleazar's pov

"El~!" Mum's voice came from the kitchen. "I'm pretty sure I made the best Waffles ever!"  I walked out of my room and leaned into the kitchen making sure I wasn't smiling.

"What?" I asked.

"'What'" she mocked me trying to mimic my accent. "Come here, my beautiful son, stop being angry with me." She pulled me next to her and fed me a small bite of the plate she had served. I didn't open my mouth so the fork and the waffle just softly bounced against my mouth. Mum sighed dramatically. "Eleazar, being grounded for breaking school curfew..."

"I know, I know. But you and dad used too," I crossed my arms.

Mum smiled, "love, but we also had no parents, er.. parents who cared, and we were given detention every time." She poked my cheek with the fork and food, "come on... open up..."

I sighed and opened my mouth for her to put the food in. She waited with her eyes wide while chewed. "It's good..." i admitted making her jump.

"Yes! Your dad is out of the job! I'm the waffle maker in this house now," she sang the last part of the sentence.

_____

"Happy Christmas!" Willa yelled waking me up from my sleep on the couch.

"Willa, my love, maybe not the best.." Anne said in a groggy voice.

"We need a little happiness! Especially with the break through you and Ro had on your little adventure." She waited for Anne and I to sit up before she handed us each a mug.

The smell of chocolate filled my nose making me sigh a bit. I sipped it and stopped a bit shocked. "This tastes like Mum's," I mumbled.

Anne sipped it hers and her eyes lit up. "It does." We both looked at Willa as she rocked back and forth smiling.

"Andre and I made them. Apparently it's what Marc would make them when they were kids."

Andre walked into the living room and handed a mug to Abigale who sat quietly in the corner. I might of let myself linger on her too long because she glanced up and turned away as her cheeks turned red.

After a few minutes Ro came down being a bit extra smiley then I'd seen since we got here. It was... concerning.

"Good morning. Happy Christmas." She greeted us as she sat on the couch next to Anne.

"Happy Merry Christmas." Anne and I both responded.

Ro glanced at Willa who smiled, "Ava is American."

"Her brother has a French accent," she said confused.

"He fakes it to bug her," I said as I sipped more of my drink.
