I always loved taking pictures. Wherever it was or who I was taking it of. I didn't care as long as I had a camera in my hands. Even as a kid I would be so creative when I took pictures. My favorite thing to take pictures of was people the way you could just capture someone's emotions through one click was something special to me. It might sound a little cringy and weird but for me that was what I loved, being able to capture a moment into one picture.
My parents got me a camera when I was 12 years old and ever since then I took it with me everywhere I went. I took who knows how many pictures with that camera and eventually wore it out, but I never stopped taking pictures. I would get older and buy new ones every once in a while.
My family grew up loving football (soccer is what my family called it because we're american) and we would watch it on tv and whenever our country played in person. I even went to my siblings football games and while I was there I loved it so much because I was able to take pictures there. The pictures I took of people playing football were the coolest ones. The action in pictures of people running and tackling and celebrating showed how much football meant to people. That is the main reason I chose my career in sports photography.
Present Day
I just finished taking pictures of the Gotham Fc VS. Orlando Pride game and was packing up my equipment to go home. As I was walking putting a camera in my case I heard someone say my name."Taylor!" I looked around and it was my co-worker. "What's up Dylan?" I said to him. I just got two passes to take pictures for the Arsenal Vs. Man City game!" He said. "Really that's so cool!" I was happy for him but jealous at the same time. "Yeah, Since I got two I was wondering if you wanted to come with me?" Wait did he really ask me to go to England?! Of course I had to say yes, this was a dream come true! "Omg I would love to go! Yes!" I screamed as I hugged him. "Oh ok, you can let go now!" He said while I was hugging him hard.
"Wait isn't the game like this weekend?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"So that means I have to get packing then," I said as I was rushing my things into where they were supposed to go.
"Yeah, you should pack at least a week of clothes and the plane tickets are already payed for. I'll text you when we should be leaving because our flight is tonight," he said.
"Wait tonight?! Omg I really have to go then. And again thank you," I said to him with a sincere smile. "What time should I be ready?" I asked.
"10 is our flight so I'll pick you up at 8:30. Does that sound good for you?" He asked.
"Yup. I'll be ready by then."
"Ok I'll see you soon, bye!" He said as he walked off.I was still processing that I was going to England. The car ride home I just thought of taking pictures of football clubs and players that I knew and always wanted to go see. I mean London in general was so beautiful, despite the cold weather. The offer from Dylan came out of nowhere but I already knew immediately I would go. I mean I would never say no to England. Being able to take pictures for The Arsenal was exciting. They are a club that has grown so much not only as a team but a fanbase as well.
It was two hours later and I was home already packed up. I had everything I needed for London: clothes, camera equipment, makeup, shoes, etc. Dylan was coming soon and then we would be heading off to England from New York. Wow that's crazy to say. I have never been out of America which is sad but finally the time has come. I could've been in Europe if I wanted to but I never had enough money to pay for a flight to go and then comeback. That made me think that if I were to ever leave America, I would just choose to stay in Europe and live there to work for the best clubs.
Dylan picked me up and we headed to the airport. Then an hour later we flew off to England. I would have to tell my family at some point I wasn't going to be in America for a while. They would understand and tell me to "follow your dreams." They would also tell me "find someone there who could keep you company and enjoy life with." They always insisted in me to find someone I could love and marry one day but honestly I never really cared to try but just know that someday that person would eventually show up.
I woke up to someone tapping my shoulder.
"Taylor, we're here. We're in London."Authors note
