KANINA pa tahimik ang buong beach house magmula nang makarating silang dalawa. They reserved the entire resort solely to commemorate their honeymoon in tranquil seclusion.
Amira lets out a disheartened sigh. What words could she use to address Fornax? She had recently revealed her emotions to him at the church. Now, she observes Fornax on a couch in the living room, indulging in strong liquor. It appears he does not incline conversation with his newlywed wife.
Their final discussion took place during their limousine ride, and it's possible that Fornax was also displeased with Amira.
Overwhelmed, Amira reached a breaking point. She needed a breath of fresh air, prompting her to wander along the beach. The sensation of the salty sea caressing her feet felt more appealing than engaging in another argument with Fornax.
"Bakit ko ba nasabi ang mga katagang iyon?" As Amira strolled along the beach, she pondered the question. The touch of salty sand under her feet and the embrace of the cold breeze brought her a sense of comfort.
However, fear grips her as she acknowledges her resurfacing emotions for Fornax, and she recognizes that this is not a positive development. The inception of this marriage appears to be a charade, a performance in which she must play the roles of both a dutiful daughter and a devoted wife to salvage her father's financially troubled company.
"Preferring the beach over conversing with an inebriated individual," Amira gasped as Fornax addressed her from behind. She turned to look at him, only to find him gazing at her, clutching a bottle of whisky. "I overheard your words earlier."
"I'm not sure what you're referring to." Patay malisya na sagot naman ni Amira. Even though she is fully aware of what Fornax is discussing.
"I caught what you murmured to me during our wedding," Fornax continues to bring up her regrettable error. Indeed, it was an error to love the same man who had caused her pain a decade ago.
Amira recalled his act of infidelity, which further solidified her decision to depart from La Claritora.
"I let the moment sweep me away, Fornax. I believed it was expected to utter those words at the wedding," Amira falsely claimed. She considered it wise to conceal her true sentiments for him, especially since Fornax appeared to have lost his love for her. Amira was aware that Fornax wouldn't have consented to this marriage without some other motives. "Save yourself the trouble because I won't fall in love with you again."
Fornax simply chuckled and proceeded to take a few more swigs of whiskey directly from the bottle he held. His blue eyes remained fixed, continuing to gaze intently at his wife.
"Good to know. I want you to understand that love isn't a requirement for me either. I only require the repayment of the money and, ideally, an heir from you," Fornax declared.
Amira's heart ache. So, is this his intention?
"You're aware that I excel in business, and I lack someone to inherit my fortune after I'm gone," Fornax remarked. His demeanor remained composed, and his tone was earnest. "I believe we can come to an understanding. I'll rescue your struggling company, and in return, you'll bear me a son."
Amira couldn't fathom it. It felt as if her parents had handed her over to a malevolent force—a heartless deceiver driven solely by the pursuit of fame and fortune.
"I suppose we could," Amira responded, rendered speechless by Fornax's words. Sadyang lantaran lang talaga sa kanya ang mga kagustuhan at nais ng lalaki.
Amira believes it's the opportune moment to formulate her own plans. Since Fornax harbors hidden motives, she sees the necessity to have her own as well.
