Chapter 21:

AMIRA drew in a deep breath, swiftly retrieving her gun from behind her jeans. She fired shots at her adversary in rapid succession. The man wearing a bronze mask skillfully evaded all her bullets and sought cover behind a discarded car. Wasting no time, she pulled Dale's unconscious form and concealed herself behind a nearby vintage vehicle. Her opponent appeared momentarily surprised and unprepared for her assault, but he proved to be adept at dodging her gunfire as well.

"Dale..." Tinapik tapik naman niya ang pisngi ng binata subalit nahimatay talaga ito. "Please wake up."

In a perilous situation, both of them found themselves in dire straits, and Amira's body began to weaken due to the strain of her pregnancy. Pero wala talaga siyang ibang magagawa kundi ang lumaban.

As she heard the twigs snap under someone's foot, Amira quickly emerged into the open and instinctively pulled the trigger of her gun. However, her heart sank as she realized her gun was empty, leaving her with a sense of disappointment and a loss of hope.

In an instant, her opponent, moving with incredible speed, fired a shot that struck her in the abdomen. Napaupo naman si Amira sa lupa at sumandal sa kotse habang tinatakpan ang sugat niya upang hindi lumabas ang kanyang dugo.

Amira's vision began to blur, and she fought back tears, not due to the pain coursing through her body, but out of fear that she might lose her unborn child.

"I might want to see your face before I end you," the man declared with unwavering determination, emphasizing his intent to kill her.

Amira's mind was flooded with memories, a series of flashbacks racing through her thoughts. Was this the end for her?

Nakakalungkot lamang isipin na mamamatay siya at hindi pa niya nahahanap si Cree. On the other hand, she might also lose her second baby at this very moment. To make matters worse, she and Fornax didn't even have a proper farewell.

Eventually, Amira decided to remove the black silk cloth covering her face. She believed she was facing certain death, and she wanted her adversary to remember the face of a woman who was willing to risk her life for the people she loved.

Naghihintay naman si Amira sa katapusan niya. Inaasahan niyang babarilin na siya ng lalaki ngunit hindi ito ginawa ng lalaki na ipinagtataka niya.

The man in the bronze mask appeared to be gripped by fear. Suddenly, he appeared vulnerable and dropped his firearm to the ground. His blue eyes, as clear as the ocean, betrayed his emotions.

"Amira..." The man, her adversary, uttered her name. Kaagad rin nitong tinanggal ang maskara at nag-aalalang niyapos siya. "What are you doing here?" he inquired.

"Fornax." Confusion overwhelmed her, and she let out a cry. She embraced Fornax as tightly as she could. "Please save me. Save our child!"

Kahit nanghihina at basa na ang kanyang damit ng sarili niyang dugo ay naramdaman ni Amira na umangat siya sa lupa dahil binuhat siya ng asawa niya. 

"I'm sorry, my wife. Please hang on," Fornax said, cradling Amira carefully as he carried her away from the farm. He hurriedly made his way to where he had parked his car and quickly drove away from the scene.

Fornax couldn't hold back his tears as he glanced between the road and Amira. Masyadong mabilis rin ang kanyang pagpapatakbo papunta sa pinakamalapit na hospital sa lugar na iyon. Wala talaga siyang ibang naiisip kundi ang iligtas ang asawa.

"Fornax." Tinawag naman ni Amira si Fornax. Napalingon naman si Fornax subalit nanghihina na talaga si Amira at nawalan na rin siya ng malay.

"Damn!" He cursed, pressing the car's accelerator even harder. He was consumed by confusion about the unfolding situation, but one thing was clear - he had almost lost his wife!
