Chapter 13:

AMIRA gradually opened her eyes, discovering herself lying unclothed in the bed. The fragrance of aromatic candles enveloped the entire master bedroom as it gently reached her nostrils. Amira reached out to search for her clothing on the bed, successfully locating them, and quickly dressed herself.

Her attention was drawn to Fornax's captivating back, and a smile crept across her face as she watched him engrossed in his work on his laptop.

Amira rose from the bed and approached her spouse. Before she knew it, she was wrapping her arms around him and settling onto his lap.

"Hello," he greeted, revealing his flawless, pearly white teeth with a beaming smile. His remarkable and dazzling blue eyes shimmered as he asked, "How did you sleep?"

Amira let out a giggle as Fornax playfully nuzzled and planted some kisses on her neck. "It was delightful," she replied with a smile.

"Good to hear," Fornax murmured as he ceased the neck kisses, locking eyes with her in an intimate gaze.

"By the way, where's Cree?" she inquired, her realization of the time dawning on her. "It's already eight in the evening," she added, casting a glance at the laptop's clock.

"He's stargazing," Fornax replied, his gaze briefly shifting to the laptop screen. "I have a surprise for you," he continued, his radiant blue eyes filled with anticipation.

Amira, feeling puzzled, inquired, "What type of gift is it?"

Fornax planted a swift kiss on her right cheek and rose from his seat. Meanwhile, Amira settled comfortably into the swivel chair that Fornax had been using. She couldn't tear her gaze away from him, meticulously observing every detail.

Without delay, Fornax headed towards his substantial cabinet, retrieving something from within. He produced a stunning black dress that shimmered, hanging delicately on a hanger.

Amira let out a surprised gasp, her eyes filled with wonder as she comprehended the type of gift that awaited her.

She turned to her husband and inquired, "Para saan yan?" The dress exuded elegance, with its sparkling beads crafted from intricately carved diamonds, shimmering and capturing the soft bedroom lighting.

Fornax wore a smile as he continued to display the dress he had secretly arranged to have purchased by his secretary while Amira was asleep. "I received an invitation to my cousin's annual party," he explained.

Amira chuckled as she came to the realization. "You do seem to have quite a few cousins," she remarked, a hint of amusement in her voice. "Hindi ka yata nauubusan ng pinsan kahit saang parte ng mundo."

"I suppose I come from a large family tree," Fornax remarked with a wink, followed by a hearty laugh. "My grandparents did have quite a few children-twelve to be precise."

"What's the occasion?" Amira inquired, her curiosity piqued.

"It's his birthday," Fornax explained. "You see, that cousin of mine is a clandestine mafia leader," he added with a chuckle, picturing the extravagant nature of the birthday celebration. "I've also heard rumors that he has royal connections."

"Is there royalty in your family lineage?" Amira inquired once more. To the best of her recollection, she hadn't heard of any princes or princesses in Fornax's family.

Napailing iling naman ang lalaki. "No, I don't have royal blood," Fornax clarified. "However, I do consider that cousin of mine somewhat like half-royalty because his mother was a queen," he explained.

Tumango tango naman si Amira nang marinig niya ang kuwento ng asawa. Amira realized she might need more information to better understand Fornax's family. Even though they had been in a relationship for a while, Fornax had never introduced her to the intricacies of his extensive family tree.
