WARNING: suicide attempt.

I walked towards the edge. It was a far distance from where I was standing, to where I would land if I fell... or jumped. I looked around to see if anyone else was there. No one was around, so I wouldn't be pushed, and if I jumped, no one would save me. I took a deep breath, and closed my eyes, before taking a step off the edge.

A pair of arms wraped around me, and pulled me away from the edge. I opened my eyes, shocked. "Don't jump. Please." A gentle, masculine voice said. I grabed his arms, and tried to get them off. "Let me go!" I yelled. "Only if you won't jump." He replied. I continued trying to get out of his arms. I struggled, but I could tell that he was struggling a little to keep me away from the edge. I was so sure that I could win, but after a long time of struggling, I eventually gave up.

"You're really determined to die today, huh?" The voice from behind me said. "Why?" I just crossed my arms. "That's fine. You don't have to tell me anything." He lifted me up, and carried me to a random place, before letting me go. I quickly turned around, and looked at the guy who stopped me from killing myself. HE. WAS. TALL. He had short, black hair, pale skin, and strange looking eyes. One was white, and the other one was red with a black sclera. "Something's not right about your aperance. You can't be human!" I said. He smiled. "Correct. I'm Zok." My eyes widened.

"What?" I said. "I'm Zok. The god of death." He replied. "Doesn't that mean... Am I already dead?" I asked. "What? No. Of course not." He said. "I stopped you from killing yourself, remember?" "But why? Isn't it your job to make sure that everyone dies? Wouldn't it just make your job easier if you just let me do it instead?" I asked. "Oh dear, what do they teach you humans these days?" He mumbled quietly.

"My job is to take mortal beings to the afterlife. The only time I actually kill is if it's the only way to stop someone's suffering. And even then, I hesitate. And I saved you because your suffering won't last forever." He cupped my face with both of his hands. "You deserve to experience happiness before the afterlife." I felt tears start to form in my eyes. Zok wrapped his arms around me, and pulled me close. "It's gonna be okay. I promise." He said softly. "Just hold on a little longer." I burried my face in his chest, and cried.

After a few seconds, Zok lifted me up, and started carying me somewhere. "Where are you taking me?" I sobbed, as I wrapped my legs around his hips for support. "I'm taking you home. I don't know if you'll make it long enough, so I'll take care of you." He said. "Why? Aren't you busy?" I asked. "I can make clones of myself. That's how I can always take everyone to the afterlife when they die, even tho many dies at the same time." He answered. "Oh. I see."

We got to my home, and Zok laid me down on the couch. "I'll just make a clone real quick." He said. I looked at him while he made a clone. Horrible mistake. I looked at him in horror, while the clone walked out. "That is absolutely terrifying." I said. "I know. But it's the only way I can get work done. I may be a god, but common sense still applies to me." He looked around, as if he was looking for something. He then seemed like he found what he was looking for, and grabbed a blanket.

"You should get some rest. I'm sure you're exhausted." He said, as he gently pushed me so i laid down on the couch, before he put the blanket over me. "I'll find a pillow. Don't move." He walked to another room. "That's the bathroom!" I said. "Ah." Zok replied, as he left the bathroom, and walked into another room. He came back with a pillow, and placed it under my head. "Now, get some sleep." He said with a smile. I nodded, and closed my eyes. "Sweet dreams." I heard him say.

Time skip

I could smell a nice scent, and opened my eyes. I saw that Zok wasn't in the living room anymore. I sat up, to try to find him. He was in the kitchen, and he seemed to be making something.

"Ah. You're awake. How are you feeling?" Zok asked. "Better." I answered. "That's good. I'm making you some grilled cheese. It's almost done." He smiled. I rubbed my eyes, stood up, and walked to the table.

When Zok finished the grilled cheese, he put it on a plate in front of me. "I know it's simple, but I couldn't find anything but bread and cheese. Why don't you have more food?" He asked. I just looked at him. When he realized, his eyes widened in regret. "O-oh. Right. Sorry." He apologized. "Enjoy."

Hope you enjoyed <3
