It was almost midnight. The three girls were sat on Ainsley's bed. Olivia was as awake as ever and Andrea was too, despite it being hours past her usual bedtime.

"You're so getting an earful from Carla." Andrea laughed.

The mention of their friend made Ainsley and Olivia stop their squeals as they remembered something.

"I still haven't told anyone about my little crush on Cyno. Only you two know about it. How do I tell them..." Ainsley spoke, reaching out for a piece of candy that were in front of her.

Cyno had let her take all the snacks they didn't get to finish for her to finish later, but it was as good as gone now as the candies were the only ones remaining.

"Why would you not tell them sooner? It would've been less harder." Andrea asked.

"I don't know, I just didn't want to startle them. They think I'm a narcissist, who cares too much about herself to care about others. They think I would be the last person to like grow a crush or whatever. " Ainsley explains.

" You think so? Well, what I thought was quite opposite. I thought you would be the first one to get in a relationship. You have a personality that guys would like. " Olivia opinionated.

" And I am hot af, so that's right. " Ainsley agreed with Olivia.

Andrea rolled her eyes at what the younger said and grabbed a few candies before leaving. Olivia ended up staying over for the night.

Well, Cyno on the other side was annoyed at himself for forgetting to tell her the joke he had planned to tell her that night.

Ainsley was on the floor, hugging a pillow, tears running down her face.

She was currently on the phone with her mom. It seemed like her and Ainsley's dad had a fight as her mom was going on about how her father says hurtful things without even the slightest bit of hesitation.

"Mom, I don't mean to be rude but" Ainsley spoke, not wanting to hear anything about it any further. "I think that you shouldn't have put up with him for 14 years. You should've ended it earlier."

"I know, but I was worried. Matthew wouldn't have had anyone except us to let his emotions out on." She heard her mom's voice from the phone.

Ainsley was finally understanding why people say that a couple divorcing affects their children more than themselves. She really didn't want them to split. She didn't want to take sides between them.

But when she told her mother that, she called her selfish and heartless. She made comments as to how Ainsley behaved just like her father and hung up.

Ainsley sighed and quickly distracted herself with getting ready for breakfast.

She was fighting the tears that were threatening to fall the whole time but she saw her friends at the great hall and joined them.

Andrea noticed how Ainsley didn't go 'hey girl~~' as she usually does and questioned her about it.

"What, you seem off today."

"It's just something I talked about with my..." Ainsley paused as she felt her eyes tear up again.

"Hey, why are you crying now? What's wrong?" Andrea was quite concerned about the girl and her remark gained the attention of their friends. She usually would just laugh it off and stay cheery until the end, this was new to her.

"It's nothing. I'm just overreacting just let me be for a minute. " Ainsley replied, not wanting to talk about it.

"Andrea, just give her some space. She needs sometime to take things off her mind." Olivia mumbled to Andrea, who proceeded to do as Olivia said.

Cyno was sat about 4 seats away from Ainsley. He was worried that she was upset with what had happened a few nights back. They haven't really got the chance to talk much since then as many students have returned, break was almost over after all.

Either way, he knew that he had to justify his actions that night whether it was or wasn't the reason to her almost breaking down in tears.

"Cedric is hot af wdym??" Ainsley and Olivia were confused when Andrea claimed that she has seen better looking men than Cedric.

"If you like him so much, why don't you ask him out! Maybe then you will stop bothering me." Andrea went back to eating the snack in her hand.

Ainsley knew that it wasn't a good idea, since you know... Cedric dies, lol.

But she wasn't going to reveal anything to these people because who knows what could change since she's now also a part of the supposed fictional world. (Like literally.)

"I would if he was a little taller. I need someone taller than me." Olivia said gaining a scoff from Ainsley.

"Bro that guy isn't tall enough? Cmon, you aren't even that tall."

Andrea and Olivia would be lying if they said that they didn't find Ainsley amusing sometimes, because she currently looks nothing like she was just about to breakdown 6 hours ago.

" Not just a few inches, like a feet or two taller than me. " Olivia explains.

" Damn, girl. You ain't getting a man in this life. " Ainsley commented before trying to take a gummy from Andrea, just for her to swat Ainsley's hand away.

" You can spend Draco's money and get yourself your own pack of gummies. "

" Speaking of which, did you talk to him again yet?" Olivia questioned as she remembered Ainsley mentioning that her and Draco were on bad terms.

Ainsley let out a sigh before speaking,
"No. I think we're done for good. "

"That guy surely is something. In the span of a few months, he stole your friends from you." Andrea added.

"Fyi, I chose to leave. Besides, I'll be fine. I have you two anyways." Ainsley smiles, attempting to put an arm over the two's shoulders.

"Nuh uh, we don't want you. Go away." Andrea got up and escaped from the younger's hold.

"C'mon you don't have to lie, everyone wants me." Ainsley gave Andrea a smug look only for Andrea to get up and leave.

Ainsley was really grateful to have Andy by her side. Olivia too but she knew that Liv could ever get as close to her as Andy did.

Andy was like an older sister she almost had. That put her at ease somehow.

Look at me incorporating my real life worries and problems in this book, no wonder no one takes me seriously when I rant lol. This one's just a filler chapter, I will make sure I write better content in the upcoming ones!!
