[Ainsley POV.}

"So he won't be home for three weeks! I'm over the moon!" My mom exclaimed through my earbuds.

It was my birthday, at last. I was expecting a wish but no, instead my mom was telling me how she had the house to herself since my dad was going away for a little trip back to his homeland, India.

"Sounds fun." I tried not to sound down.

Call it exaggeration or whatever but I had never celebrated a birthday with my family before.

My mother didn't really get why people even celebrated the day while my father was the old school type. He would get me bags of candies and have me distribute them to the whole of my neighbourhood.

The most participation they did was getting me a cake before leaving off to work.

Sometimes my cousins would come over, but mostly it was just me, Skyler and Vivienne.

"Alright, work calls! I'll update you when he leaves!" Mother hung up.

I was dreading my day a little. My friends claimed that they were unavailable today, all for different reasons.

They did call me or drop by for a wish though, still. After last year's celebration, I really thought we would hang out together this time as well.

At least, Cyno was here. He made sure to clear his day up just for my birthday.

It was my first birthday as Cyno's girlfriend and it was exciting.

We would be going out in 5 to somewhere only he knows. He refused to even give me a hint on the place, reasoning that it was a surprise.

But the suspense of it made me restless.

I got out of my restroom after shuffling on an outfit. I wasn't sure about it. I did ask Cyno about what to wear and all he said was to wear something that I would wear in front of my family. Weird way to say not slutty, in my opinion.

"Does this meet the terms, dear sir?" I shot Cyno a look, seeking approval.

"Yeah, it's great." He smiled, his hands made a toy themselves out of my sleeves .

"Just where are we going? I'm curious!" I complained, while he continued playing with the fabric.

"You'll know in a while." He assured me, kissing my cheek. "You got everything?"
