"Her adoptive parents weren't ready to step down. Were they?" When he asked that question, Luo Tengfei already knew the answer.

No; They weren't ready to step down. They were never ready to accept defeat in whatever they decided to do.

They would never let go.

The moment the heavenly emperor began narrating the story, he knew very well whom they were referring to. Even without him or anyone of the-now-pissed-looking-guests pointing fingers at anyone, Luo Tengfei knew what to expect at the end of his majesty's narration.

Still, he wanted to believe that his- their parents didn't do what they were accused of doing for the sake of his own sanity.

They never knew that their little sister didn't go to her remaining biological family to spend time with them when she was four. They never knew that the years they spent apart, their sister was actually suffering far worse than him and his brothers did instead of enjoying the bliss of her childhood the way she was supposed to. They never knew that her betrothal was a forced one. They never knew that she had her own family; a soulmate and children from her last life waiting and yarning for their reunion. They never knew that she met them before her wedding. They never knew that their parents took her back forcefully, once again separating her from her family. They didn't know that their parents even went as far as to gamble upon her children's safety to make her marry Yue Shaoqing. They never knew the whole marriage was a farce that was planned by their sister's kids to save her from another tragedy.

Being the eldest child of the family, he had seen enough to know how domineering his parents could be. Even though they are loving and caring, it was a tough love. They loved it when everything went their way and they always made sure to let the six of them know how much power they held over them all.

Still... Luo Tengfei hoped that it would be different for their sister. He thought that it was actually different for her. But looking at the situation now, he realized that he had never been more wrong. At the end of the day, it was their sister who had suffered the most under the clutches of their parents and not them. He felt his blood boiling.

"Why? Why did you do that, muqin*? Wasn't it enough for you to control our lives as you wish? Why her too?" He inquired in an angry tone, gesturing towards his five younger brothers who looked just as angry as he was. The heavenly officials and the guest immortals sat back leisurely on their seats to enjoy the drama.

"Because she is a girl! We had to make sure that she would be the strongest so no one would dare to bully her even when we aren't around." Shen Qingqiu snapped, finally reaching his limit of patience.

"It doesn't justify why you forced her to marry Yue Shaoqing! It doesn't justify why you two dragged her back here and forced her into submission all the while lying to us all like it was nothing! Were you that arrogant? Or was it ignorance? She was basically a fucking baby! A BABY! What the fuck were you two thinking for god's sake?!!" Luo Tengfei all but cursed at his parents, burning in raw fury. Even his wife's and brothers' worried calls didn't manage to reach his ears to calm him down.

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TALKING TO, BOY?!" It was his father, Luo Binghe's furious question that slightly awakened Luo Tengfei from his raging fury. Yet, before anyone could say anything further, Hua Cheng's cold tone pierced through the air.

"ENOUGH!" That one word was all it took for everyone to shut their mouths up. No one dared to test the patience of THE, one and only Xuè Yǔ Tàn Huā.

"It seems like you are just like your father, cousin." Hua Cheng spat hatefully. "-There is nothing in you that could be even remotely match with my aunt. Good thing she isn't around here anymore. Otherwise, I worry she might have wanted to first strangle you to death before she herself would follow soon after." He tsked, extremely disappointed at his cousin for what he did to his own family. But disappointment was not all he felt towards that man he once treated as a blood brother than a mere cousin.
