There was no doubt about the great Hanguang Jun's capability. Everyone knew that he would reach immortality sooner or later. But what no one expected was the said man to be sucked into that legendary light of heaven without any prior warning in the middle of a Discussion Conference of all the places it could have happened.

...Who knew that that lonely man was lucky enough to ascend in broad daylight?

Just like that, his sudden ascension threw everyone who witnessed it into a huge frenzy as well as the peaceful heavenly realm who received him from the other end of his short journey of going up.

Why so?

Because it wasn't everyday that someone ascended as a top level heavenly official so out of blue. There were only two people who ascended as top level gods in recent history. One was their current heavenly emperor, Xie Lian and the other was their late Tài Zǐ Diànxià, Hua Ying. And now...the great Hanguang Jun, Lan WangJi; the father of the heirs' to the heavenly realm and the ghost city.

It was not only his sudden ascension that threw everyone into a huge frenzy but also the impact it caused through the realms with the huge bell of the heaven ringing madly to announce it to everyone. That impact only fell behind the ascensions of the two mentioned prior.

What a great achievement...only if the man in question saw it the same way as others did.

Despite everyone's praises and admiration, Lan Wangji himself didn't feel the slightest bit of joy. He didn't want to deal with immortality when all he wished for was to see an end to his misery. He didn't want to live a life so long without the other half of his soul to complete him. Yet here he was, standing in the middle of a bunch of excited deities, feeling nothing but misery.

"Leave him!" Suddenly a deep and authoritative voice commanded, dismissing the crowd with no trouble.

"It's been a while, Wangji." The same man greeted, eyeing the distressed man up and down. However, when his eyes stopped at Lan Wangji's blindfold, his face distorted into a deep frown.

"Xuè Yǔ Tàn Huā" Even though he couldn't see, Lan Wangji skillfully guessed who it was before greeting the other and then decisively added, "Tiāndì!"

"Are you sure that that blindfold does its duty?" Hua Cheng raised an eyebrow when he heard the second part of the greeting. Lan Wangji settled with a slight bow as a reply.

"Come A-Zhan. You have to meet Ling Wen and then proceed with your initiation process. Don't worry, it will be nothing serious. It's just a small simulation that would help you gain a title." Xie Lian explained softly as he led Lan Wangji towards Ling Wen's palace.

It wasn't much of a hustle to run a quick test to check Lan Wangji's level of cultivation and where he would be placed in the heavenly court as a heavenly official. The trouble was when almost all the heavenly officials wanted to witness his initiation process where he would gain his title. At the end, Xie Lian had to command them to go on with their daily routine on the promise of announcing the results the moment they were determined.

Lan Wangji didn't mind.

He didn't even care about their enthusiasm as he made his way through a huge pair of golden doors and disappeared into a blinding white halo.

At first he didn't feel anything. Since he couldn't see, he relied on his other instincts and they never failed him so far for five whole years but now... He wasn't sure whether it was his inability to sense anything or the lack of anything around him to feel. He was confused and tensed about what he might have to go through.

Lan Wangji frowned deeply and his body emanated a thick cold aura because he was annoyed as it is about his unwanted ascension and now this? Whatever it is...he didn't want to deal with these kinds of stupid things when he had enough to do back at cloud recesses. Not to mention how he didn't wish to achieve something this important without having his soulmate as a witness.
