Hua Ying's eyes snapped open, panic coursing through him as he realized the absence of his husband's comforting presence beside him. Fear seized him as he realized he was not in the safety of their Jingshi, but trapped in an unfamiliar room, his limbs shackled to the bed, his cries stifled by a cruel gag.

His heart pounded in his chest like a relentless drumbeat as he struggled like a deer caught in a deathtrap against the unyielding chains, the metal biting into his flesh, a cruel reminder of his captivity. The realization that his powers had been stripped away left him feeling hollow, defenseless against the looming threat that surrounded him.

"There is no point in struggling, A-Ying. As long as I want you to be here like this, then you will stay like this." Hua Ying frowned when he heard the familiar voice of his ex-fiance.

As the figure approached, Hua Ying's breath caught in his throat, his body tensing with fear. That wasn't the man he expected to see. There was a darkness to him, a sinister aura that wasn't there the last time he saw the man and it sent cold chills through Hua Ying's already trembling form.

As the man drew near, Hua Ying's heart pounded with a mixture of fear and revulsion. His every nerve demanded him to flee, go hide in his husband's safety but his attempts to flee were futile, his struggles only serving to exhaust him further. He writhed against his restraints, desperate to escape the clutches of this tormentor.

"Sorry about the rough treatment, A-Ying. It's just because I know that you aren't willing. Even this..." He murmured, getting dangerously close to Hua Ying and caressing his neck softly. The sudden touch and the feeling of a collar around his neck, probably the reason behind his powers being gone, sent a wave of despair washing over him, the weight of his powerlessness crushing him.

"You can't escape, A-Ying. Stop hurting yourself." Yue Shaoqing's cruel words pierced through the haze of Hua Ying's terror, mocking his futile attempts to resist. The gentle caress of fingertips against his skin felt like a violation, a reminder of his vulnerability.

Tears streamed down Hua Ying's cheeks as he cried out wordlessly behind the gag, his voice stifled by the cruel device. His heart ached with longing for his beloved, for the safety and comfort of his arms as he struggled against his restraints, the weight of his helplessness crushing him with each futile attempt to break free. His mind raced with questions, each one more terrifying than the last, but there were no answers, only the cold certainty of his captivity.

'Where is Lan Zhan? What is this place? How did this obsessive man escape through the barrier? What happened to Chang Haoyu? And the bracelet I put on him? How did he break it? How long has he been planning for this? How did he come into the Cloud Recesses? Why does he reek of resentful energy? What is his purpose in doing this?'

"Ah... A-Ying... A-Ying... You don't have to tire your mind to find answers so desperately. It's so simple." Yue Shaoqing's words cut through the silence like a knife, each syllable dripping with malice as he revealed his twisted plans.

"You see... When you broke that bracelet I gave you, I decided to take my homework more seriously. That's how I found out how to manipulate my... 'wife' to do my bidding and eventually get me out of that thing. Lord Luo helped lot as well. He is the one who gave me that collar and that sleeping drug my minions put in your incense burner as well... Plus, he also gave me something that could heat up the things if you didn't submit willingly." He smirked devilishly before continuing; "I also decided to dig up everything I can that is related to soulmates and soul-bonds. Interesting topic though... But I didn't like the fact that I can't kill the unnecessary one to have the other. It would kill them both. Then for some miracle, I found a way to break the bond without having to kill." Hua Ying's breath hitched when he said that. Of course he knew there is a way to break a soul-bond but one has to be willing to do that. In this case, he would never be willing to break the bond, nor will Lan Wangji.
