39. Complicated 😌

HAILEY'S POV

"Hailey are you okay?" She asked and I nod still trying hard to mask my awful expression. I mean it's not so surprising because they've known themselves for years. Jayden might even like her too.

Why does that realization hurt so much?

"Why then did you date Mark?" I asked after my moment of silence.

"Jayden used to be a Playboy y'know and I also dated some guys to make him jealous and Mark was one of them. All these all started with that witch!" She muttered the last part.

"Which witch?"

"Avalon." She said the name with so much disgust. I've not really had the true story of this Avalon and it seems no one wants to talk to me about it so I won't dig it.

"Avalon left him, he was so broken and... He never really gave any other girl a chance" now I feel bad for Jayden.

"Who is Avalon?" I ask hopefully to get an answer.

"His ex"

"Ohh..." I say. She feels bad and I realize that I might have liked Jayden but I've not come a long way with him like Mira. I can't even drag him with her, I'll just sort myself out and hopefully it's going to die like every other crush.

"You know I was wondering now that you and Jayden are friends you could help us get together. Y'know let's plan something that'll make him realize his feelings for me"

Gawd! I groan.

"Can you do that for me please? Pretty please" she pleaded giving me her puppy eyes.

"Hmm" I pray this works.

"Hailey please do this for me please"

"Alright alright fine!"

"Thanks bae! You're the best!" She grins and pulls me into a hug.

It's sports period and I've changed to my sports wear as usual. I was going to the field when I bumped into someone.

Gawd! Who owns such a hard chest? My head hurts.

"Hey I'm sorry, I didn't.... I mean I didn't see you coming over" he stuttered. It's the dark guy start at me at the cafeteria and up close he's ready handsome.

"That's no biggie. I'm Hailey" I said extending my hand for a handshake which he took hesitantly and I smile at him to make him at ease. He's shy and that's cute, lol!

"I'm Chris and I know you're Hailey" he said to me and I laughed nervously.

"I've not noticed you though, you're more on the quiet side" and he explains how he finds it hard to socialize with people.

"So that's why you act like a ghost yeah?" I joked and he laughed. No dimples, a gap tooth, nice!

"Yeah. Thanks for being nice" h says to me when we get to the field and I wave at him as I go over to my friends"

"Catch you later" he says and leaves.

"Hey! You spoke to the black guy?" Mira asked excited and I laugh at that.

"Yeah he's pretty cool just too introverted though."

GENERAL POINT OF VIEW
.BACK OF THE SCHOOL.

The school was rowdy and a group of guys stood at a point in the school as if holding a meeting. They stood round Drake while he knelt in the middle.

"See guys I'm really trying my best" he pleads and the leader of the ring scoffs.

"The money has been pending for so long Drake" the bulky guy said annoyed and Drake flinched.

"I know I couldn't get Hailey to sleep with me but you cannot just double the money like that man!"

"It's a bet Drake and you lost it. When are we getting the money?"

"Soon okay? Just a little more time" he pleads and he smirked at Drake.

"Otis can I get some of that stuff please even if it's just a little. Guy I'm running crazy!"

"You're still in a huge debt and you still want more? Oh boy!" Otis mocked and the guys laughed at Drake as he pleaded with his eyes fixed on the white substance Otis held on his left hand as if daring him to come get it. He gave one of the guys a sign and he threw a small wrap at Drake.

"Add that to his debt" Otis said to the tattooed guy before walking out while others followed leaving a disheveled Drake on the floor.

Hailey helped Chris with his Calculus and he ended up staring at him throughout the study session. He claimed he couldn't understand the topic so she fixed a class for him after school. It was obvious he just wanted to spend time with her seeing that the day was their last in the school before their summer break but nevertheless she agreed.

"So that will be all for now." Hailey tells him and stood up to strengthen her skirt.

"Thanks"

"You're welcome" she replies and he watched her leave with a smile.

Hailey made her way home in the Uber she had booked and was greeted by her mum. Aunt Amanda had long gone back to London with her husband so it was just her mum and baby Alex. She picked him up from his cot and played with him. He was a very lively child and smart too. Evelyn would always drop him off at the creche before going to work since he was still less than a year.

"Hey mum" Hailey greeted her mum with a smile.

"You're back already?" Evelyn asks and Hailey nods.

"I have feeling this holiday is going to be boringgg!" She groaned and Evelyn shook her head.

"We'll see to that" she tells Hailey who just shrugged.

"We still have Dinner with the Michaels remember?"

"Yeah I do" Hailey replied and tells her she was going upstairs to freshen up and prefer for the family dinner.

Jayden's family had invited his friends family over, Mira, Andriano and herself for a dinner and she couldn't wait to be there....

The family dinner was cool and went well leaving Hailey really excited.

Jayden's family had offered them a special treat. The four friends; Hailey, Andriano, Mira and Jayden were going to spend the holiday at a beach house owned by the Michaels in Hawaii.

"I can't wait mum!" Hailey tells her mum in excitement immediately they got home.
