35. What's going on here?🤨

MIRA'S POV

I'm so shocked right now.
What's going on here?

What is Hailey doing here?

The other day he had called me her name on the phone instead of mine.

Did she and Jayden.... Shit! No way!!
Jayden's mine and Hailey should better take that into her skull.

"Hey Mira!" She greeted in her overly cute voice while pulling me into a hug which I returned. Everything about her was beautiful. Jayden smiled at me and I felt the annoyance I had in me earlier melting down.

"Uhm Hailey why are you here this early?" I found myself asking and she smile at me.

"We'll talk about that later" she tells me and I shrugged. She doesn't sound like anything happened between them though.

"Today's Andriano's birthday and it's our tradition as friends to get him a gift at his place" I tell Hailey raising the fancy bag I was holding for them to see.

"I'll join you guys later. Let me go and change" Jayden says and walked upstairs as I watched him. He's just so handsome.

"You guys are gonna pull up at my place first" she said loud enough for Jayden to hear and Jayden yelled a "Gotcha!" From upstairs. I turned to Hailey and she was glued to her phone.

"Hailey?" I called and she brought her gaze to me showing I had her attention.

"Is anything going on between you and Jayden?" I asked reading her expression, she looked expressionless, she must know how to hide her expressions well.

"Nope" I know that we've been pretty close so if there really is she would have blushed or maybe told me so I guess she was right.

"Then why are you here?" I asked and she looked at me in a questioning manner.

"Are you a special type of investigator?" She asked with a chuckle and I forced a smile. Why was she finding this funny? It wasn't funny to me one bit.

"Just wanting to know what's wrong. You and Jayden could barely stand each other and now you're alone with him in his house? My brain was trying to process many things" I tell her with a tight smile.

"Things like if the two people you saw are really your friends or their clones" she asked and I burst into laughter.

"Exactly! That's it!" I concurred.

"Actually what happened was this. You remember the party with Drake right?" She asked and I nodded.

"He tried to rape me" she said and I gasped.

"What!" I exclaimed and she nodded quietly. I knew Drake wasn't totally innocent but why would he go as far as trying to rape her?

"Jayden helped me. I had an asthma attack too cos of the smoke and all while he assaulted me. The rain and everything added to it, it was so heavy and his house was the closest place and that's why am here. His mum doesn't even know I slept over. He's a nice person and doesn't deserve the harsh treatment I've given him" she explained and my expression softened. I was just being unnecessarily jealous for no reason.

"You don't deserve the harsh treatment he gave you either" I tell her and she smiled. I never knew she was asthmatic, so sad. Jace died of asthma some years ago. Buh she's wearing Jayden's favorite cardigan, he doesn't even let anyone use it and now he gave it to her? Could that mean something.

"That's Jayden's cardigan right?"

"Yeah. I was feeling so cold"

"Oh" I guess there's nothing to worry about. I'm kind of happy they're friends, no more quarrelling between the both of them.

I take my eyes to Hailey who is busy with her phone. She's nice, beautiful and super smart. I can't help but be insecure when she's around. What if Jayden falls for her? I've crushed on Jayden like forever and it hurts to see he doesn't look at me as more than just a close friend. Jayden walked downstairs looking hotter than usual, I love the way he styled his hair. I just can't help it but stare.

"You girls are ready?" He asked.

"Yup!" Hailey squeaked running off the door. Jayden looked at me and I smiled at him.

"You're not looking so bad" I tell him with a smirk and he laughed.

"Come here!" He says hanging his arm around my waist while he whispers how we're going to take Andriano by surprise when we got there. My waist tingles, I just try to be normal without much blushing. He's always touchy though in a friendly manner but I'll hope it's not something more. I've read best friend crushes on Wattpad so I have this assurance that maybe he likes me but doesn't know how to tell me about it.

"You two look so lovely together" Hailey cooed from outside and I blushed slightly rolling my eyes at her while Jayden shook his head with a small smile on his face.
Awwwww! He likes me too!

We drove go Hailey's house first and she brought Andriano's gift before we all left for his house. Our car pulled up in front of his apartment. We ran into his mum who exchanged pleasantries with us before rushing out. It's obvious she has an appointment with someone.

We went into Andriano's room and he was still asleep like a log of wood with his ass up in the air.

"Wake up birthday boy!" Hailey yelled spanking his ass and Andriano jumped up from the bed causing us all to laugh. He has always been a heavy sleeper.

"Ouch!" He frowned while rubbing his ass and Hailey smiled at him with an innocent look which made me chuckle.

"You look cute when you frown" she teased and Andriano gave her the middle finger.

"Bro go shower already. Look at the time you're waking up!" Jayden said to him why hitting his arm.

"It's my day so I have every reason to sleep" he whined while trying to lie down on the bed but Hailey tickled him till he had no other choice than to stay awake.

"Alright fine! Make yourselves comfortable and I need some privacy in my room kids. I wanna shower" he said winking at me and I rolled my eyes at him. I knew he referred to me as a kid on purpose.

"What's there that I haven't seen? I used to help you shower years back remember?" I tell him and he burst into laughter while Jayden followed.

"Trust me when I say you can't stand that thing you saw then.. it's way more bigger now. You wanna see?" He said with a smirk while playing with the rim of his joggers and winked at me.

"Gross" I said my face turning pink and Hailey laughed it off.

"Now go and shower!"
