Chapter 13: The Big Game Of Rivalry

Bailey's POV
Mmmmmm this coke is yummy. I'd claimed a table for my best friends. I'm so glad they're now doing drinks, sodas, juices and all of that at the cafeteria, used to be just milk and water. I was just drinking coke straight. That was my lunch practically. Well it was before someone told me off. Miss Nina. "Bailey. As school captain, you should know you have to pick a meal, a fruit, a vegetable and a snack. Not just a drink." I sighed and gave up. I may as well just get this over and done with. Coca-Cola can be a lunch? Can't it? "Yeah but you'll get more fat." Who said that? Who knew what I was thinking? I didn't say that out loud. I looked around. No one? Strange... I walked up and got a tray. Burger, blueberries, asparagus and a mini bowl of cat food. I brought it to my table and I ate. It was good. But I would prefer coke. Aina came by my table. She dropped a note. I opened it. Probably something with 'the popular 6'. I opened it. I read it silently.
Dear Bailey.
Amber, Glitter and I would like to invite you to play against us in a basketball game at lunch.
You can pick one dog or cat to play with on your team.
May the rivalry battle happen.
We will go easy on you

I was so in!! Term 1 we focused on basketball. Term 2 we focused on softball. This term is tennis. I was ready for battle. I actually liked sport now. Especially swimming. Eventually, Atlas, Elton, Stewart and Zane came around and sat. Who would I invite. "Hey Bailey." Atlas said. Atlas and Elton sat on either side of me. Atlas is still my bodyguard as well as one of my best friends. I don't pay him with food anymore. I got up to throw my empty coke can in the bin. I overheard the gossip girls, aka Emerald and Lacy, gossiping. Again. "Did you hear Glitter got suspended?" "Omg yes! I think it had something to do with that dog, umm I forgot her name." "Paisley. I hate her. She deserved it." Glitter got suspended? What about the rivalry game? The whole thing started with glitter! I rushed back to my table. I then realized tons of tables were talking about it. "Did you guys hear about Glitter getting suspended?" I asked them all. Atlas shrugged but the rest nodded. "Yes, it's all anyone can talk about. She was being breedcist against Paisley, I believe from the rumours going around. She's been suspended for three days and she met Dorothea and apparently she already had met her before, even her owners got called in. Didn't you hear Glitter getting called on the loudspeaker? Apparently she cried." Elton told me. Okay that's a lot of info to take in. She cried? Wow wasn't expecting that... "paisley? What did she say to Paisley?!" Atlas sounded worried. "Dude chill, it's alright now." Stewart calmed him down. "Cloud! Nala! Skye! Come with us!" Lacy called out to her friend group while walking with Emerald. Cloud, Nala and Skye follows along. I noticed just then that Skye was the only cat in their friend group. Strange? Nah, paisley's the only dog with coco. "Hey Zane!" Cloud says to him as they near our table. "Hi!" Cloud smiled at him. He quickly turned around. His cheeks were a bit red. I chuckled a bit. "These guys should know. Do you guys know where paisley is?" Emerald asked us. We pointed to the table with Akira, Coco and Paisley. They nodded and walked there. "What are they doing?" Cloud asked. "Interviewing apparently." Nala replied. I just remembered the basketball. "Um guys. I got an invite for Rivalry Basketball and I can invite someone. WHO here would be the best at basketball?" "Yeah not me." I was going to need strength. I looked at Atlas. Tall, big and perfect for combat. "Don't look at me. I ain't doing nuthin'." "Please atlas! This could be up against your cousin, all the big dogs, we need your help." He crossed his front legs and shook his head at me. He wouldn't do it. My next was Zane but Atlas needed to do this. I had some of my burger left. He liked burgers. "Please Atlas? I'll give you the rest of my burger! Plus you're my bodyguard, this is apart of your service." Atlas was about to take the burger when I quickly covered it. "Only get it if you help in the game of rivalry." He sighed. "Fine." I then gave the burger to him. He ate it.

Cindy's POV
Amber had given me a note about a rivalry basketball game? I had gotten Artemis over the line to help me. Finally play time. I went onto the concrete court liked they asked me. I saw the opposing team doing warmups. Aina, Amber, Mike, Thor, Duke and Chief. Mike was obviously subbed for Glitter. When Artemis and I went to our side, Bailey, Atlas, Coco and Paisley were already there. What a good team! We sat in a circle and talked strategy. Finally the referee got here. Cosmo? What?! He took of his cap and sunbathed in the sun. The sun wouldn't be out for long. "Okay guys. Coco, you go on Aina, Cindy you're on Amber. Atlas, go on Thor, Artemis go on Chief. Paisley, you go on Duke and I'll go on Mike. Got it?" Bailey commanded us. We all nodded. I was on Amber. Okay. Should be easy? She is a cat after all. "Y'all done?" Cosmo called out to everyone. "YES!" Everyone from both teams said. We came to the middle. We shoved atlas into the tip off. He was against Chief. Cosmo held the ball in the middle "3, 2.." tension was starting. I was already panting. Atlas looked at Chief dead in the eyes. Chief growled. "1... GOO!" Cosmo threw the ball into the air and atlas tipped it to our side. "Yes, Atlas! Good job!" Paisley said. Atlas smiled with a tiny blush.. I think? Maybe? I don't know. I was near the sidelines when Mishka pulled me in by the ear. "Paisley and Atlas =-" "yeah yeah I know, Mishka." I quickly got my head back in the game. "Cindy!" Artemis called my name. I didn't know where she was. Then suddenly, the basketball hit me in the head which caused me to drop to the ground. Ouch. My head aches. Aina ran to me. "Omg are you okay?" Was aina being nice? I had the ball in my front paws. She helped me up. "Thanks aina, I never knew you were this nice." She smiled then snatched the ball from me. "Hahah loser!" Oh come on! I'm too trusting. "Amber!" Aina was about to pass to Amber when luckily, Coco intercepted. She dribbled it down the court. Duke tackled coco. What? You don't tackle in basketball. "Commando Cosmo! Foul! You can't tackle!" Cosmo looked at me and shrugged. "In this game you can. But 1 tackle at a time. Sorry not sorry." That's so unfair. Paisley got Coco up quickly and defended against Duke. Coco still had the ball and made a shoot for our basket. She made it! "Yes!" Our team cheered. Mike took the ball for the throw-in. "Thor!" He threw the ball to Thor. Thor caught it in mid-air. Artemis started to bolt for the ball. She chased Thor down to the basket. Before he could shoot, she tackled him. She held him down. "Someone! Take it! Quick!" Artemis called out while struggling to hold Thor down. "Gladly." Aina came and took the ball and shot the shot. She scored. Atlas took the ball. He threw to Bailey. He dribbled it. Amber was about to pounce on him so he tackled her instead then got back up and started dribbling.  He shot the ball but missed. It rebounded. Everyone watched intensely. It was like everything turned into a slo-mo perspective. I ran for the ball. Chief was in front not wanting the ball? What is going on?  I was still running and then he held his leg out and I fell. I got up quickly. "FOUL. SUPER FOUL." Cosmo sighed. "She's not wrong. Chief out of play." Chief was a bit upset. Hahahaha. I took the ball. I shot. "Yessssss!" I screamed. Amber threw a ball at my head. Rude.

After some time.

Atlas was staged at the goal. Time was running out. He took a deep breath. Thor was coming at him. C'mon Atlas!! Please quickly. Thor will get him. He will get him! Oh no! Thor pounced in the air ready to tackle. Atlas dodged and shot the ball. The timer buzzed. 14-12! We'd won! We cheered for Atlas. We would've lifted him in the air but he's too big for us. A Guinea pig stared at us. Not seen this one. We walked over. She stared Bailey dead in the eye. She had no feeling. "Raven. I know what you're thinking." We were all freaked out. "I'll explain later..." Penny assured us.
