Chapter 15: The Sleepover

Arthur's POV
Back at rehearsals. We're practicing for the big performances next term. I'm Bruno, my character doesn't do a lot of singing. There's a bit in like the final song though, but everyone sings in that. They're currently practicing the scene where Isabela has her solo, aka Paisley. Paisley is completely new to it but Amber is going hard on her. Amber is head student of this musical so she directs it partly. She's Luisa. Mr Ajax and Amber sit at a table in front of the performing stage. Mishka and Paisley were both on stage. Because mirabel is also in that scene. Paisley sung. "What else can I dooooo?" Amber stood on the table. "Paisley! Stop! It's not doooooo it's doo it's not an opera." Amber sat back down annoyed. "Sorry." Paisley kept singing, paisley was a good singer but amber didn't appreciate it. Amber facepalmed herself. "This is why we should've gotten Aina to play Isabela." Amber muttered. After the last run through of What Else Can I Do, we had a 5 minute break. "We need 6 bit roles it seems." Mr Ajax said looking at his sheet. "Amazing, I'll just get Aina, Glitter, Mike-" before she could finish, Mr Ajax interrupted her. "Um no, I was thinking about cats and dogs who were good but didn't get roles. Which will be... Duke, Artemis, Elton, Emerald, Atlas and Skye. Could someone please get them? Arthur? Could you?" I nodded at Mr Ajax and set sail to look. I checked every class. Music. Artemis and Atlas. "Can I please borrow Artemis and Atlas?" The teacher nodded. They got up and came to me. "Um you both have been selected to play bit roles. Please follow me to collect more." They nodded. Artemis was very giddy and happy. "Do any of you know where Duke or Elton might be?" I asked them both. "Yeah Elton told me that Duke and him had a fight and they're probably in the office currently." Atlas said. We walked to the office, Duke and Elton were coming out I told them both and they followed me. We found Emerald and Skye at Emerald's locker. "Oh my! That's great! I will be in the musical!" Emerald cheered. Skye had a big bright smile. We walked and came into the drama hall. "Excellent Arthur, we might use the smaller ones for the kid roles and the bigger ones for the bits in We Don't Talk About Bruno." Mishka was on stage. A Mirabel scene. "Elton. I will teach you your lines." Amber said. Elton went up on stage. "Okay recite them now." After amber told him. "But I don't know who is who. Just tell us what everyone can do! How do you keep them all straight?" Elton recited. "Alright Emerald get up here." Emerald got up proudly. Amber told her and Emerald started to recite. "Oh my gosh, it's them! It's physically impossible to relax! Wait, who's a sister and who's a cousin?" "Skye." Amber said. Skye got up and listened then recited. "What are the gifts? Tell us everything, what are your powers? There's so many people!" Everyone clapped for the 3 of them. We started to film that scene which everyone is in but me. It's the opening. My tummy was rumbling. It's in the middle of third period, when I always starve. We're still practicing. Sometimes it can take up 2 periods. It's kind of good because we don't have boring classes but also can be boring because it's all we do for like hours. We kept groaning on and on. Amber was pestering Mr Ajax about the makeup for the performance. We finally got onto the scene when Luisa sings, aka Amber. This is Amber's solo, she takes a lot of pride in it. Mr Ajax handed her miniature toy donkeys. "Um why did you order these instead of real donkeys?" She asked him. "Well they don't sell them on ebay, plus you can't carry real donkeys." Amber's mouth was wide open, she was quite offended. "I can carry really donkeys!" Mishka laughed when she said that. Amber turned around and zipped her mouth in front of Mishka. After amber turned around Mishka rolled her eyes. "You're a cat. You cant even lift a chihuahua." Amber realized her defeat and got on with it. I was chilling with my water. Finally it started to be lunchtime but we had work to do. We Don't Talk About Bruno. We kept Artemis, Atlas and Duke around. But the others left. "Mishka on lunch duty today." Mr Ajax called out. Lunch duty is something we do if it spreads onto our lunchtime, Mishka takes our order's puts them in and we get it in like a bento serving and she collects it. Mishka came to me for my order. "Order?" "Lasagna, Banana, Potatoes, Seafood Temptations and a can of Fanta." "Got it." Mishka went around asking, while I got hungrier by the minute. I watched the clock keep turning its arms, I felt as if I was going to pass out. After not too long, Mishka came back with everyone's orders in bags. I got mine! Yes! Finally! I ripped the plastic film off and began to eat. I ate and ate. After everyone had a bite we went back to practice, but not everyone, Amber, Julieta, Agustin, Antonio and I sat out. We're not in the We Don't Talk About Bruno. We watched and ate. Zane came on after Dolores. "Seven foot frame. Rats along his back. When he calls your name it all fades to black. Yeah he sees your dreams and feasts on your screams." "Woooo!" I cheered for him. Amber elbowed me. "Don't distract them." Amber is a strict head student.
