Miranda groaned turning off her alarm. She rubbed her eyes and got out of bed. She walked in her bathroom washed her face and brushed her teeth. She got herself dressed and then got her son ready. She grabbed her son's coat and his backpack before grabbing her purse.

"Ready Tuck" She smiled at her son

"Mommy's going to save lives" He smiled showing off his missing tooth

"When did you lose your tooth buddy" She asked

"At daddy's. The tooth fairy gave me a whole $2" He beamed

"Wow" She smiled. Her ex neglected to tell her that her son had lost a tooth. Tucker still resented her and she knew that. They were cordial for Tuck's sake but he still blamed her for their marriage falling apart. While they both were at fault he solely blames her. So that's just like him to keep something like this from her.
She arrived at the SGMW and dropped her son off at daycare. She kissed her boy and headed to the peds floor.

"Good morning" Arizona smiled seeing her

"My son lost a tooth. And my spiteful ex didn't tell me" Miranda ranted to Arizona. They became particularly close during Miranda's fellowship under her. Miranda didn't want to accept it due to becoming a newly single mom but Arizona really valued Miranda so she worked with her along with Callie's help who would often watch Tuck to help out and be on Tucker duty. Which included telling Tucker off whenever he tried to say something negative about Miranda or her career. As a result the three of them became thick as thieves. The 2 year fellowship seemed to fly by and now Miranda was an excellent Attending Pediatric Surgeon.

"That jerk" Arizona rolled her eyes "how much did the tooth fairy give him"

"$2"

"Give him $5. The tooth fairy is richer on your side of town" Arizona joked
Laughter erupted from a patient's room causing Miranda and Arizona to turn around. A doctor Miranda had never seen before was standing there alongside Sloan and Avery.

"Who is he" She asked

"Consult from LA" Arizona nodded

"Consulting on my patient" She put her hand on her hip. She was slightly confused on what was going on here. The patient Libby was here for a cleft lip and cleft palate repair thus making it a plastics case. However she was the pediatric surgeon whose name is on the file.

"You didn't call him" Arizona looked confused

"No, I guess Sloan did" She stared at her

"I wonder why" The both stared at the three doctors. Their body language didn't indicate that they were familiar with each other. In fact it seemed as though Sloan didn't want the doctor there.

"That's definitely not it" Miranda shook her head and walked over to Libby's room and put her peds smile on to hide her confusion. The consult eyed her as she walked in

"Dr. Bailey" Libby's mother smiled

"Hello" She gave the woman a hug and looked at the surgeon standing there. By his face she could tell something here was wrong and you could feel the tension in the room

"This is Dr. Warren" Sloan pointed

"And Dr. Warren is" Miranda smiled

"He is a plastic surgeon from LA.  We called him" Libby's father smiled

"Oh well Mark Sloan is the plastic surgeon on your daughter's case" Miranda smiled. This man took it upon himself to call a strange doctor in here

"I explained that" Mark nodded

"Well Ben here owes me" Libby's dad laughed

"I am Ben by the way" Ben stretched his hand towards Miranda. She slowly accepted the handshake
"Dr. Bailey"

"I'm not here to step on toes or anything.Mark Sloan is a legend" Ben laughed
Miranda stared at him. Him being here alone felt like stepping on toes

"That would be great. However he informed us his student would be doing the surgery" Libby's dad crossed his arms "we don't know this kid"

"If I may" Jackson cleared his throat

"You may not" Libby's dad cut him off "No offense but the team we agreed on was Bailey and Sloan. Not whoever he is"

"So you called in Dr. Warren" Bailey nodded putting the story together

"I can assure you. Dr. Bailey and myself will be in the room the entire time. Dr. Avery isn't going in blind"

"Don't worry about it. I'll have my guy in there" He sat down

"As lovely as that sounds. We have it under control here" Sloan tried to cover his obvious frustration with this man

"If I may, can we talk about this surgeon to surgeon" Ben looked at Miranda

"This is a plastics issue" She looked at the chart to avoid looking into his eyes. For some reason he made her feel funny. And she couldn't describe the feeling

"I'd rather talk to the Pediatric Surgeon" He smiled

"Does that usually work for you"

"What" He admired her sass

"That" She pointed to him and walked out of the room. She went to find Arizona. She was standing with Alex Karev in a patient room.

"Dr. Bailey" The patient smiled

"Hey kiddo" She gave him a fist bump

"Dr. Robbins and Dr. Karev said I can go home"

"What, they're springing you" She laughed

"Karev you got it from here" Arizona smiled. He nodded and her and Bailey walked away

"So who's the consult" Arizona asked

"Ben Warren plastics from LA. Libby's dad called him. Owes him a favor"

"Why" Arizona asked

"Because he doesn't want Jackson to do the surgery or something" She shrugged

"Jackson was doing the surgery" Arizona was very confused

"That guy is impossible" Mark walked up

"He's a scared dad" Arizona sighed " Since when was Jackson going to do the surgery"

"I was going to walk him through it" Mark explained "but he wants his guy to observe"

"What so he can backseat this surgery" Jackson interjected

"I have no plans to backseat the surgery Dr. Avery" Ben walked up startling them "My friend called scared because his daughter is having surgery. A big scary surgery on her face. He is worried about looking at a face he won't recognize. So yeah when he called and asked for me to hop on a plane. It was a no brainer. So I'm sorry if it feels like I came in here to stage hostile takeover on your patient but that's not what is happening. I am here as a courtesy to my friend" Ben walked away
They all just stood there and stared at each other.

"Should someone go after him" Arizona asked

"Sloan you should've talked to me before telling them Avery was going to do the surgery" Miranda rubbed her face

"Bailey, I respect you. You, Arizona, and Callie are the 3 freaking Musketeers and you are the heart of this hospital. Parents love you yadda yadda but I don't need to defend putting my guy up to bat"

"No one is telling you to defend yourself so back down. What I am saying is that you see how when I walked in they hugged me. We have a bond. We could've had a conversation about it and maybe we wouldn't be in this predicament" She shoved her hands in the pockets of her lab coat and walked away
