Alastor just couldn't understand it; why was he helping Angel? Why did he feel relaxed when he found him? Why was he angry for not knowing what happened to Angel?
Alastor stayed by Angel's bedside the whole night; the poor thing was used like a sex toy non-stop by Valentino's worst clients. Alastor kept this to himself, not wanting to risk his reputation and not wanting to hear Kara brag about how she was right. Over these past few months, Alastor had feelings for Angel Dust. But he wasn't sure if it was a mutual feeling. He had his shadows fetch him some medical equipment and some grub for Angel when he woke up. The only one that seemed to know about Alastor caring for Angel was Fat Nuggets the pig. The little guy picked up on Angel's scent and found him in Alastor's room.
During the night, Alastor would often hear Angel toss and turn in the bed, whimpering or crying. Night terrors of his time with Valentino replayed in his head over and over. Alastor would be by Angel's side, humming a soft tune to calm him down. "You are safe here, mon ange." Alastor would whisper.
The next morning, Alastor had his shadows fetch some booze so Alastor could reclean and redress Angel's wounds. When his shadows returned, something unexpected happened, Angel had finally started to wake up fully. Alastor kneeled down towards Angel "Welcome to the land of sin, Angel dear! How are you feeling?" he said to Angel.
Angel looked around to see that he was back in the hotel. But he was also surprised to see Alastor in the same room as him. Everything was a blur to Angel, the last thing he remembered was leaving Valentino's office after his punishment. Before he had another moment to think about it, he felt Alastor's hand gently touching his arm. Next came a stinging feeling. Angel saw that Alastor was treating his wounds; he finally noticed the number of bandages that were wrapped around all the wounds he had. Alastor rewrapped Angel's arm in a new bandage; Angel's face flushed red at Alastor being so gentle to him.
He recalled the other moments when Alastor stayed with him in his room after his panic attack and when Alastor danced with him to an old song. He always thought that Alastor hated him but maybe he liked him. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door which startled Alastor. His ears and tail perked up like a frightened deer. "Alastor, you awake?" It was Kara.
"Kara! What happened?" Alastor asked, trying not to sound panicky.
"I came here to tell you that Charlie, Vaggie, and I couldn't find Angel," Kara said, then she put her hand on the doorknob.
Just as she was about to open the door, Alastor had one of his shadows block the door so Kara couldn't get in. She was confused as to why Alastor was blocking the door. Angel was both confused with how Alastor was acting but he was also hiding a smile when he saw Alastor act like an actual frightened deer. Kara gave the shadow a deadly glare which scared it into leaving the door unlocked. Kara finally opened the door to Alastor's room then she saw Angel all wrapped up in bandages laying on Alastor's bed while Alastor was standing beside the bed, frozen like an antelope in the headlight.
"It's not what it looks like!" Alastor shouted.
"Oh, my Satan! I knew it! You were worried about Angel!" Kara shouted with glee, "I was right! I told Husker that you would look for Angel! That pussycat lost the bet!"
Alastor groaned and muttered something about skinning Husker. He then tried to lie about how Angel just magically appeared in his room but Kara wasn't buying it. She stated the fact that Alastor had gotten drunk the other night because of Angel. Before Angel could get a word in, Alastor just stated that he had no idea what she was talking about. Well, Kara changed the subject by telling Alastor that since he found Angel, she invited them, plus Vaggie, Charlie, Nifty, Andy, and Husk for a fun night at her club. Tonight was Jazz Night at her club and everyone would be dressed up.
