The Hard Knock Life Part 1

A sin of Hell and an imp with robotic limbs; two demons worlds' apart but their love is true. A balance between love and lust was found. In every universe, Asmodeus and Fizzarolli dated in secret to protect themselves. But in another universe, the story stays the same except for one key difference; Asmodeus and Fizzarolli were secretly married. That's right, Asmodeus proposed to Fizzarolli, and they secretly married in a small ceremony. As far as the world knows, Asmodeus and Fizzarolli were just business partners, not husbands. And now, they were about to take the next step in their marriage, family. And fate would be their guide.

The orphanages in the Greed Ring weren't perfect; the buildings were old and musky, every kid had to sleep on ratty mattresses with cotton blankets and the food was old and moldy. None of the kids ever got any new clothes or toys; the clothes they had on were turning into rags and most of the toys were broken. Two orphans that had it worse than any other kid were a nine-year-old male imp Oliver who was deaf and a twelve-year-old female imp named Abigail. Oliver was a target to every kid and caretaker because of his hearing disability. Abigail is the only one who cares for Oliver.

Even though they aren't blood-related, they still act like siblings. Abigail learned sign language to communicate with Oliver better. And she would also teach Oliver how to lip-read. Abigail would try to help Oliver get adopted but when couples learn about his disability, they pick another kid. But it was somewhat okay because Oliver wanted him and Abigail to be adopted by the same family. One night while everyone was asleep, Abigail quietly snuck out of her dingy bedroom to get a drink when she overheard the caretakers, Margaret and Kyle mention Oliver's name. She quietly peeked over to the door and listened in on the conversation.

"That Oliver brat is never going to get adopted. With his stupid hearing problem." Kyle stated.

"Which is why we are going to sell the brat. He'll never get a family. We'll just sell him to some psych ward in Sloth. That's where freaks like him belong." Margaret said with an evil smile.

Abigail had to cover her mouth to gasp so the caretakers couldn't hear her. Without thinking, she ran off quietly and went inside Oliver's bedroom. She shook him awake then she signed to pack only a small bag because they were escaping. "But why?" Oliver signed.

"Ollie, I overheard the evil duo. They're gonna send you away to the Sloth Ring. We have to leave tonight." Abigail said, worried.

Oliver and Abigail quickly packed a small bag then they snuck out of their rooms. They tipped toed towards an open window just down the hall, Abigail climbed out first then she helped Oliver out the window. Abigail saw a truck that was heading out of Greed; this was her and Oliver's chance to get out of the Greed Ring. Thankfully the truck wasn't moving which meant that the driver was making a delivery. Abigail quickly grabbed Oliver's hand then the two of them snuck onto the back of the truck. They made sure to hide way in the back so the driver didn't see them.

When the driver closed the back of the truck, he got in the driver's seat and started to drive from the orphanage. Oliver fell back asleep in Abigail's lap but she stayed up a little bit thinking about what their next step was, singing a lullaby that she only remembered from her birth family.

She didn't get to finish her lullaby because to fell asleep. The two imps were so deep asleep that they didn't know that the truck was leaving the Greed Ring and ended up in the Lust Ring. When the truck stopped, the momentum of the truck shook Abigail and Oliver awake. The truck's back door opened up then the driver grabbed one of the boxes and left. Abigail and Oliver took the chance and snuck out of the truck and headed into the building. Little did they know, that their little escape led to a new change in their lives.

Like I said, I'm a musical fan. So this little gem is inspired by the musical Annie, the 1999 movie version. And I was thinking of putting this book into a film form. But I'm gonna separate the storylines into two books. One for Hazbin Hotel and One for Helluva Boss. Let me know what you think in the comments. Also, this chapter fits with the Helluva Boss plot, which takes place just before Blitz finds out that he is pregnant with Spiroz and Helia.
