Chu hadn't planned on telling Yunlan anything until he was forced and now he had found himself in that position today, earlier than he had expected. He had to explain everything to Daqing while he checked up on Shen Wei's condition. The guards were gone by the time he had arrived, leaving a nervous young carer shocked by their appearance and efficient manner in the way they had treated their master. Shen Wei was still asleep, oblivious to his surroundings and the activity around him after his return.
"It's alright Daqing, he probably knew that it was a risk before he left and came to see us, and that's why his visit was so short. You didn't do anything wrong by leaving him where he fell, I would have done the same. However, Yunlan knows more now than he ever thought could exist in real life, it all depends on how he reacts, whether he accepts what he's been told or not. I never mentioned your name but he's smart. We just have to wait."
Chu had a look at Shen Wei, his colour had returned, his pulse was strong and he seemed alot better. Possibly in a few days he will be normal and Daqing could return to work. Chu was so tired, he said goodnight to the young cat and left, going home to rest and look after himself.
At work, the office was quiet for the rest of the week and the sick staff members were slowly returning, which meant that Guo Ying had to find a new desk for himself temporarily, until he could return to his normal position in the guards. He shared Chu's desk which was the best suitable place, with the bemused staff keeping watch while neither of the two men spoke, an occasional word but nothing else verbally. Unknown to the onlookers, Ying had shared his ability of telepathy with Chu and they talked nonstop all day.
Daqing returned to the office the following week and the professor went back to work at the university. Yunlan had noticed his deputy's return and if he was here, then it meant that Black Robe would also have returned to whatever his day job was. Therefore he would be getting an invitation soon to talk and have a discussion, but what he didn't expect was the professor to phone and ask him to call in when he had time, and he could give him some more information about his whip. There was very little work to be done in the office, so Yunlan excused himself and returned to the university but at least this time he knew where he was going.
Shen Wei heard his footsteps echoing in the hall and rose to open his door and greet him feeling very nervous about how he was going to explain about his other life.
"Zhao Yunlan, nice to see you again, I'm glad you came, would you like some tea, I've just made some for myself?"
Yunlan studied his face, he was much paler than the last time they had met and he asked after his health.
"I'm fine now but the flu hit me hard, same as the others who had to stay off work. I'm just run down and need some time to recuperate properly. Maybe I came back to work too soon."
