Yunlan was quiet for a long time while he sat alone in his office after dismissing Chu and Yezun. His thoughts were mixed with emotions. Why did Wei keep this from him, was he afraid of losing him or did he not know, was it also kept from him? The spirit of Black Robe would have known this, had it blocked that fact from Shen Wei's mind. Why even think about these questions when Wei was locked in a vault by choice and refusing to leave in order to keep him safe, Zhao Yunlan safe. He sat back in his seat and looked at the ceiling trying to calm his thoughts.
Chu and Yezun watched, knowing that he was worried over Shen Wei and trying to work out a way of ending the situation, when he suddenly arose, and stormed out of his office to make a coffee before joining the rest of the staff and guards.
"Alright, what do we know about the vault apart from it's almost impossible to get into?" Yunlan asked everyone as he found a desk to sit on and drink his coffee.
"Shen Wei's father designed and built it several ... after the mansion was renovated, and then itwas updated as time passed." Chu stated carefully because the office staff did not know about longevity.
"Someone look for the latest technical plans available, see what you can find. What else?"
"I can try and find a way to hack the systems for communication." Lin Jing offered.
"Great, try ... Next, someone look deeper into the background of the boss. I want to know where he was born, lived, what school he went to and medical records, illnesses." Yunlan suggested.
"I know what you're looking for, I can get into medical records." Chu volunteered.
"That's a start, see what we can find out and we'll proceed from there, Yezun, a quiet word please."
Yunlan walked to the side of his office window where they would not be heard, hoping for answers from the guard.
"Is it common knowledge among the guards who Shen Wei actually is?"
"Yes My Lord, do you suspect one of us?" Yezun said horrified of the possibility.
"No, of course no, I was being careful of my own words where his lineage is concerned. Whatabout any of the stranded people or the ones who chose to stay?" Yunlan asked.
Yezun thought carefully, there weren't many others still alive and the ones he knew of, were living in the countryside where there wasn't the same stress as the busy city. They had been here for so long that he didn't think any of them would remember what the prince looked like as a young man. They would of course recognise Black Robe but not connect the two together. Which brought them back to where did the boss come from, was he from this world or was he from the other?
In the vault, the boss and his gang of ten, were getting nowhere in their search for the orb and he approached Shen Wei again, thinking of another form of coercion to find it.
