Chang Cheng had been Yunlan's private chauffeur for several years and he had grown to like him, and not feel terrified of him the same as when he had first started in this position, on the night when he had blasted the library doors, which were never replaced.
The staff at work became kinder in their approach and only watched Yunlan out of concern, whether that was because of him changing his attitude or them changing theirs, it really didn't matter, the atmosphere had improved immensely. They even tolerated the newbie when he had first started, knowing that he was a guard for Yunlan but never questioned why he needed one beside him at work.
The morning after the library incident, Yunlan was his usual cheerful self and was pleased to see Wei smile at breakfast. It was a new start for him after his breakdown in the shower, and he watched as Wei took the quiet road to the mansion and his work.
Yunlan drove that morning with a passenger in the car, Chang Cheng who was going to start work in the office, learning from the ground up, and as usual Yunlan arrived before his staff, so Chang Cheng was given his own desk to sit and wait for the rest to arrive. He recognised Chu when he entered and felt the air chill a little as Yunlan glanced towards him, waiting for him to lift his coffee before he called him into his office. Chu sensed that he was in trouble from the moment he became aware of Yunlan's stare and he approached warily.
"You knew and didn't say anything, I don't have enough emotional energy left to vent the amount of anger and hurt I am feeling at the moment, be glad because our friendship wouldn't have saved you. I can fill in any small details that either Kunlun never told you or you don't understand. Speak to me Chu Shuzhi."
Chu understood completely what Yunlan was referring to and knew that no amount of apologising would make a difference just now, but he tried anyway.
"I was shocked at the injury you had received and I had never heard of that method Wei had used to heal and save your life but by the way the guard had reacted, I was worried about any long term effects that there could be afterwards, so I asked Kunlun to find out about it. I had hoped that it was just something new, but when I learned of the repercussions it would have on you both separately, I didn't know how to tell you, so I didn't. Sorry."
Yunlan studied his friend and could see the worry and fear that he had been hiding, which helped him to calm his anger and he spoke.
"What is it you don't understand and I'll try and answer?"
The only thing Chu wanted to know was why it worked when it required two deities to be successful, when he only thought that there was one, the whip. Yunlan laughed and sat back in his chair as he glanced up at the ceiling, he was going to have to reveal a secret.
"There were three present, take your time and think about it Chu, now come and meet my new chauffeur from the guards."
