The office had been quiet since Yunlan and the guards had left and Lin Jing had managed to catch them on CCTV for some of their journey with the signal from Yunlan's phone but then they had veered off to an area without camera coverage, so no one knew what had happened, until the temperature dropped slightly, and a small layer of mist appeared in the office. The staff knew that someone was coming but not who. They had become so accustomed to the arrival and departure of the guards, that it didn't cause the same concern anymore whenever it happened.
Three guards appeared and surrounded Chu, immediately taking him away and he instantly knew that they were in need of medical attention. When the mist cleared, he found himself in Wei's flat with both Yunlan and Wei unconscious on the bed with obvious signs of injury, one more than the other.
Yezun remained while Chu examined Wei first and felt relieved that physically he was fine, it was only exhaustion. He wouldn't know his mental state until he resurfaced from his rest. Next he had a look at Yunlan, and removed his damaged T-shirt to see the extent of his injuries to his chest and rib area.
"Can you tell me what happened? Yezun."
"Lord Zhao was stabbed by the criminal with a hidden knife, the injury was intended for Black Robe but he protected him and took the wound himself."
Chu was aware of the intense sense of failure coming from the guard, who shocked him by revealing Wei's next action.
"Lord Shen saved his life the only way that would have worked. He used the little master to summon a lightning bolt combined with his dark energy to heal the wound."
Chu had never heard of this before, and knew that Yezun was holding back information about how serious it was or what the consequences were, but he would never know unless Wei was willing to tell him, so he waited until the guard had left the room and took a chance, borrowing Yunlan's watch.
"Kunlun, I would like to talk to you," Chu spoke quietly, hoping that the hologram would answer him and he saw Kunlun's face reflected in the dial of the watch.
"Black Robe used a method today to save Yunlan's life that I've never heard him talk about or mention in his past lives. Do you have any information that would explain the consequences of using it?"
Kunlun was still repairing the damage to his system after the mistreatment he had received in the vault but he agreed to find out as much as he could and send the information to Chu's phone, before he shut down his external link.
Wei was beginning to resurface after his sleep and was aware of Yunlan lying beside him, alive. He would never regret the choice he had made to save his life, and he would be thankful for every day that they would have together. When he opened his eyes, he saw the worried face of Chu watching him and he smiled as he struggled to sit up.
