Shen Wei knew what was going but was powerless to stop it at the moment without causing harm to the hostages. Everything happened so fast, no one would have considered that the engineers who were helping to set up the equipment at the exhibition hall, were any kind of a threat but they were well organised. At a given signal, they locked the exhibitors inside and threatened them with death, unless they wore the armed bracelets which could display their positions, including Shen Wei whom they had assumed was one of the participants, or so he thought.

Before they were led out to the awaiting transport, they were warned that the bracelets would kill them if they attempted to escape, and Wei watched as two of the students were electrocuted when they tried to run away. The white vans took them to the house in the country not far from the field where Black Robe had appeared briefly while he was ill, and he recognised where he was. This house was smaller than his and more modern, it looked as if it was occasionally used as a wedding venue with a large gravel drive leading up to the front entrance. The vans were parked close to the nearby woods which surrounded the house, hiding its position to anyone driving past on the quiet country road.

Shen Wei searched with his mind for signs of Guo Ying, and found him lower down in the basement but he was weak from lack of food. Wei knew that even something as small as an apple would help him and he kept alert watching everything.

The man in charge came into the larger room where they were all gathered, huddled in a corner and afraid. He was wearing an outfit which looked nothing like Black Robe's, no elegance and creased, but he wore a mask which terrified the victims. The temperature in the room dropped and Wei had to concentrate to hold back his power along with his temper.

The man in black wandered in between the young victims staring at their faces, trying to work out who would be a trouble maker by their defiant look, and when he asked his first question, the person who gave him the cynical answer, died on the spot. It had the result he was looking for, respect through fear. Shen Wei was furious and found it more and more difficult to do nothing. The boss explained everything to his victims, who believed that as long as they couldn't identify him, he would let them live and that was his reason for wearing the mask.

He had heard about an underground bank vault that held the riches of the world, he had seen it in pictures but the only way for him to gain access was from the doorway under the bank. The biggest problem was the time factor. It was a very old building which was going to be demolished but the vault would need to be emptied before that happened. The security men would start their work the week before the demolition date, so the man in black had gathered his team and practised to find their flaws, making their chances of success much higher.

This was beginning to sound very familiar to Shen Wei, enough to calm his temper as he listened and tried to deny the possibility of where this bank vault was. He felt sick and confused, hoping that he was wrong because if he was right, then this whole scenario was partly his fault. He was beginning to connect dots and didn't like where they were leading him. He had to get these young victims out before the plan that was set in motion reached the point of failure. There was nothing in the vault, it was an illusion set to trap someone else years ago, and only he and Kunlun knew about it.
