The boss came over to speak to Shen Wei about something specific he expected to be in the vault.

"Professor, your collection is magnificent, a person could live well for the rest of his life even if he only sold three or four of the items preserved in here, but what I'm looking for is not here and you might know where to find it or at least point us in the right direction to look. Have you ever seen a small black glass orb on a black lace. it's speckled with gold, very rare and priceless."

"No, I don't believe I have, have your men looked everywhere, maybe they've missed it somewhere." Wei was puzzled as to why they wanted the orb, it wasn't worth very much so why was he calling it priceless and he wasn't wearing it today, he'd left it lying on the cabinet beside his bed.

"There are some itineraries in the books, every item in this vault is listed, if you check the ledgers you'll be able to find out if it was ever kept in here. " Shen Wei directed him to the books knowing that the orb was never stored in this vault. As long as he could keep the boss busy there was always the chance for Yunlan to escape or be rescued, although where he was now was probably the safest place on earth that he could have been kept.

There were only four men guarding Yunlan but a mountain spirit was protecting him. The log cabin he had been taken to belonged to one of the bank robbers. He used to be a guide who worked for the rangers service but had a disagreement with his supervisor and he was sacked. The boss had offered him money to use his cabin with no questions asked and he agreed but once his usefulness was over, he was disposed of, same as everyone else who failed, or disagreed or wasn't required.

The interior of the cabin was better than Yunlan had expected once he managed to have a look around. The four men guarding him were seated at a solid wood table with three of them playing cards while the fourth kept watch at the window, not that he expected to see anything. The first fall of winter snow was covering the ground but not enough to encourage skiing, but tricky enough to hide the icy patches underneath. Number one had to wipe the condensation from the glass window every now and again because the cabin was lovely and warm. There was plenty to eat and drink but also a good WIFI signal for their phones, plus a redundant laptop which belonged to the dead owner. No one knew the password and it couldn't be used.

Yunlan had been surprised but pleased to hear Wei's call knowing that it would assure him that he was alive, but he realised that he was being held as a threat for Wei to agree to something but he didn't know what, and also that Wei would agree rather than risk losing him. That's why he was still alive but only until the boss was able to get what he wanted. If anything happened to him, there would be no way to stop Shen Wei's anger therefore he had to get out of here. The crooks had taken his phone away after his call.

The mountain rumbled again making the four men nervous and they expected Yunlan to know why.

"Is that normal, the tremors, is it the weather causing it?" one of them asked as he looked over towards Yunlan.
