Chapter 22- Y meets M

NO ONE'S POV

In the bustling cafeteria, Yeonjun, Hanni, Hyein, and Danielle were seated around a crowded table, their fun conversations adding to the lively atmosphere. Laughter filled the air as they shared stories and savored their lunch, their presence caught the attention of anyone near by as the popular people in campus are gathered.

Haerin and Minji walking pass the popular group's table. They walked holding the tray of the food they just bought.

Danielle, noticed Haerin, her excitement increased. She eagerly called out Haerin's name and waved, "Kitty Kang!" She said greeting them with genuine enthusiasm.

Haerin responded with a warm smile, basking in the friendliness of the group. "Hey, Danielle!" She said as she walks near Danielle's table. Minji
followed her friend Haerin.

Suddenly, something intriguing was happening beneath the surface. As Minji's gaze met Hanni's, a hint of a smile touched Hanni's lips.

But that moment was fleeting as Minji's attention quickly shifted to Yeonjun, who was seated beside Hanni. Minji's eyes Flickered to Yeonjun's hands that were wrapped around Hanni's waist. Minji's expression changed, her smile replaced with a subtle frown.

Hanni couldn't help but giggle at the notion that Minji might be feeling a twinge of jealousy. She whispered her amused thoughts to herself, barely audible amidst the cafeteria's busy atmosphere.

"Hi, Minji!" Hanni said. The unexpected greeting from Hanni brought Minji's focus back to the table. A cheeky smile played on Hanni's lips as she greeted Minji.

Minji responded with a simple nod, "Hey." she replied keeping the interaction brief.

However, this caught Yeonjun by surprise. He finally saw the woman that his girlfriend flirts with for the dare. He leaned in and asked Hanni, "Is that Minji?",

"Naaaah, it's spiderman, Yeonjun please stop asking dumb questions, cause in response you'll get dumb answers." Hanni Replied.

Yeonjun frowned, then Hanni smiled and a mischievous smirk began to form on Yeonjun's face as he gave Minji an assessing look. He looked Minji up and down

Unfortunately, Yeonjun's next words were far from polite. "Minji looks kind of weird," he stated. The atmosphere at the table shifted, and Hanni's initial amusement quickly turned to disappointment.

Hanni turned to Yeonjun, her expression showing her disapproval, "Hey, Yeonjun." Hanni said sternly "What are you doing?" She said frowning "Apologize." She urged him to apologize to Minji.

Yeonjun looked at Hanni, and he was quite disappointed with how Hanni reacted to his statement regarding Minji. He sees genuine care in Hanni's expression.

He didn't want to look like a jerk so he was forced to recognize his mistake, Yeonjun let out a sigh and offered an apology to Minji. "Sorry." He said in a kind of forced voice.

Minji's response, however, was anything but typical. Minji looked at Yeonjun with an air of indifference, her words delivered in a calm, matter-of-fact tone. "I'm used to dealing with not-so-friendly and stupid people. I forgive you," she stated, unfazed. Yeonjun scoffed not believing Minji's statement towards him.

The blunt nature of Minji's response caught the attention of not only the popular people at the table but also Haerin and others who were nearby. Laughter and whispers echoed through the cafeteria, resounding with Minji's cold and unapologetic comeback to Yeonjun.

Now visibly flustered, Yeonjun found himself on the receiving end of light-hearted teasing from Hyein and Danielle. "That's what you get for being mean to Minji," Danielle said then laughed along with Hyein.

"Yeonjun got word slapped by Minji," Hyein said while laughing. They relished the opportunity to poke fun at him, and Yeonjun, realizing that he had been outwitted, eventually joined in the laughter but of course with pretentiousness and ranging anger inside.

"I wasn't expecting that from someone like you, Minji," he said then scoffed

Minji gave him a death stare, "What do you expect me to do? be Happy that an Basketball Asshole Insulted me?" She said one eyebrow raised.

Meanwhile, Hanni couldn't help but be impressed by how Minji had unflinchingly stood her ground against Yeonjun. She found it surprisingly admirable, especially considering Minji's usual introverted demeanor that everyone knows and also they are in the presence of a large group. It was a side of her Minji she hadn't seen before, and it left her pleasantly surprised.

Every time she encounters Minji's unusual personality, she likes how it keeps on making her intrigued. 'Maybe she's really gonna adhere to what we talked about last time' she thought with a proud smile. She admits that Yeonjun disappointed her for treating Minji in that way. Hanni won't stop her friends from teasing Yeonjun because he deserves that.

Yeonjun decided to not reply to Minji. He decided to remain silent and not make the situation worse.

After this brief confrontation, Minji decided to excuse herself and Haerin from the group. "We're gonna take our leave and eat somewhere peaceful,"

Minji said then she walked away, Minji glanced back at Hanni specifically, leaving them to ponder the newfound strength she just had displayed.

"Bye, guys!" Haerin said smiling before following Minji. They sought a quieter corner of the cafeteria to enjoy their lunch, away from the cheerleaders and Yeonjun's table.

"Bye, Haerin! I'm gonna message you later!" Danielle said smiling

Yeonjun's thoughtless comment had turned the tables on him, and his face reddened with embarrassment as he tried to recover from his earlier misstep.

Danielle and Hyein couldn't resist the opportunity to again poke fun at Yeonjun for being mean and ended up embarrassing himself. Their laughter echoed around the table as they continued to tease him.

Hyein, stifling a chuckle, commented, "Yeonjun, your face is as red as a tomato!" She and Danielle shared another round of laughter at Yeonjun's expense. The embarrassment that had been aimed at Minji was now directed squarely at him,

and he squirmed in his seat, unable to hide his discomfort and disappointment.

Hanni looked at where Minji and Haerin sat, not minding her friends teasing her boyfriend to the point of his peak. She had this urge to want to sit beside Minji.
