NO ONE'S POV
The sun hung low in the sky as Hanni and her fellow squad members practiced their cheer dance routine on the vibrant green field. It was a crucial rehearsal session leading up to the big event, and every move had to be perfect.
As Danielle twirled and jumped with her teammates, she couldn't help but notice that Karina had her face scrunched in an expression of discontent.
Worried that her tardiness might have caused Karina's frustration, Danielle decided to take a break when Karina suddenly called for one. As the squad dispersed, Danielle approached Karina, her concerned face is evident.
"Rina, is everything okay?" Danielle asked, her voice is heard with concern. "Did I make you upset for being late?"
Karina turned to face Danielle, her expression still bearing the weight of whatever had been bothering her. Danielle's question hung in the air for a moment before Karina finally responded, "It's not about you being late, Danielle."
Surprised, Danielle tried to press further, "Then, what's bothering you? You've seemed
disappointed for a while now, and I just wanted to make sure I didn't do something to upset you."Karina sighed, her eyes reflecting a mix of frustration and uncertainty. "It's not about you, really. It's just... other things on my mind."
Danielle nodded, understanding that sometimes people had personal matters that affected their mood.
Meanwhile Hanni.
Still feeling uneasy about the situation, Hanni asked further, "Then why have you been looking at her with such disappointment while we were practicing?""Uhm.. you know, Actually, I've been thinking of you also" Karina said then Hanni's eye brows furrowed. Karina hesitated for a moment, and then she leaned in closer to Hanni, her voice a whisper. "Hanni, do you want to be the cheer captain?"
A bright smile lit up Hanni's face at the thought. Being the cheer captain was an honor she had always secretly aspired to. "Yes, Karina, I would love to be the cheer captain!"
But Karina's response wasn't what Hanni had expected. "Well," Karina said with a mischievous glint in her eye, "I have a dare for you, Hanni. If you want to be the cheer captain, you have to approach Minji and make her fall for you. Distract her from her academics. So I can be the valedictorian"
Hanni's smile faded as she processed the dare. Minji, Karina's academic rival and the valedictorian contender, was known for her unwavering focus on her studies. The woman she accidentally spilled coffee at. Distracting her from academics seemed like a hard task.
"Karina," Hanni hesitated, "I'm not sure if I can do that. Minji is so dedicated to her studies, like you said right? and it wouldn't be fair to interfere with her academic goals."
Karina raised an eyebrow, her dare still hanging in the air. "It's up to you, Han. If you want to be the cheer captain, you'll have to decide how far you're willing to go."
As Hanni pondered the dare that Karina gave her ahead, she realized that it wasn't just about becoming the cheer captain; it was also about understanding the complexity of her fellow squad members and the choices they made in pursuit of their goals.
Minji's dedication to academics and Karina's determination to win the title of valedictorian were just two facets of the complex tapestry of their lives. Hanni had a difficult decision to make, and it would shape her path within the cheerleading squad and beyond.
Still under the warm afternoon sun, Hanni and Karina stood facing each other, the weight of the dare Karina had proposed hanging in the air.
Hanni, ever thoughtful and cautious, spoke up first. "Karina," Hanni began, "I need some time to think about this before making an official agreement. It's a big decision, and I just want to be sure."Karina nodded, her expression understanding. "Of course, Han. Take your time. But if you decide to go through with it, you'll need to act quickly."
Hanni's sense of responsibility extended beyond her cheerleading aspirations. She felt it was important to ask Yeonjun about the dare to ensure that he was comfortable with it.
"I should also talk to Yeonjun about it," Hanni suggested. "I don't want to catch him off guard or hurt him in any way. There's a lot to consider." Hanni said then Karina nodded.
Karina agreed with a nod, "That's a good idea, Danielle. We don't want Yeonjun killing Minji don't we?" Karina said then laughed.
Curiosity gnawed at Hanni as she continued to mull over the dare. "I just wanna ask, why did you choose me to do this dare of yours?"
"Because you're Ms. Popular, Ms. Perfect, and Ms. Gorgeous. Anyone you flirt with will fall in an instant. I thought if the 'Hanni Pham' would flirt and distract Minji in her academics then it would still have a chance of success rather than letting some average looking girl, wouldn't get Minji's attention away from her academics"
"What makes you assume that she likes girls?" Hanni asked curious
"I just heard it. She's weird so there are some who are also curious like you." Karina said smirking then she crossed her arms. Hanni nods in agreement because she's also curious with Minji's unusual reaction so it's not possible that others who are curious would also try to know more about Minji.
"Okay last. Karina, just out of curiosity, who would be the cheer captain if I don't agree to this dare?" Danielle asked while her eye brows furrowed
Karina didn't hesitate with her answer. "It would be Wonyoung, of course. She's the co-captain, and that's how it's supposed to work." She said
Hanni's disappointment was seen. She couldn't imagine Wonyoung as the cheer captain. She held a deep certainty that Wonyoung wasn't the right to fit for the role. "Karina," Danielle asserted, "Wonyoung doesn't deserve to be the cheer captain. I can't stand by and watch her lead the squad. It would be a disaster. She's perfectly unfit for the position."
Karina, seemingly unfazed, scoffed lightly. "Hanni, it's not my responsibility what happens after I graduate. I just want to secure my legacy as the best cheer captain that the squad has ever had."
The passion and dedication Hanni had for cheerleading surged within her. She couldn't sit idly by and let Wonyoung take the reins. "Karina," she declared, "I'll do whatever it takes to ensure that you don't graduate and leave Wonyoung as the cheer captain. The squad's unity and success matter too much to me."
With determination in her eyes, Hanni knew that she had a challenging road ahead. She needed to decide whether she would take on the daring challenge Karina had presented, all in the name of preserving the cheerleading squad's harmony and success. It was a decision that would test her limits and loyalty to her squadmates.
"Then accept my dare, Han" Karina said smirking "Let's talk again when you made up your mind. Let's get back to practice; we've got a lot of work to do."
