Everyone nodded silently and got into position to battle this beast. Lukas opened up by firing an arrow into the beast's left side while moving to the side of the cave for a better angle. The minotaur howled in fury and quickly swung one of his clubs at Lukas before he had a chance to react, hitting him in the chest with the blunt end of the club sending him flying back into the cavern wall.
"Lukas!" I gasped, starting to rush over to his aid.
Petra gave a battle cry, and I turned to see her block one of the clubs just as it bore down on her. As I was running over to Lukas, I saw a shadow looming over my head, and whipped around just in time to block the other club before it would have crushed me. Soren, Ivor, Axel, and Olivia tried distracting the monster, attacking his legs, slashing, throwing punches, firing arrows, doing anything, really, hoping to draw his attention away from us. It didn't really work, though. The beast just stomped his feet and knocked them all over. Uh-oh... what now? I thought to myself. Someone's gotta help Lukas! But... who can do that now?
Just then, Jesse slid under the club and successfully reached Lukas, who was laying on the ground, completely still. Oh no... I thought, starting to panic. No, no, it can't be...! He's got to be okay. He's just got to be!
Thinking quickly, Jesse reached into Lukas's pocket and threw his healing potion. Particles flew up into the air, enveloping both of them.
"Ugh..." Lukas groaned and stirred, and Jesse helped him to his feet. "Thanks, Jesse."
"Are you okay?" Jesse asked him.
"Yeah, I think I'll be fine now," Lukas assured him, staying where he was and getting ready to fire another arrow at the beast.
I sighed with relief, but we weren't done yet. Lukas's arrow flew through the air and collided with the minotaur's furry neck. The minotaur stumbled backwards in shock, dropping his arms and growling in rage.
"You got my back?" Petra asked me now that we were free.
"Uh, sure," I nodded.
"Alright, follow me," Petra told me.
She slid underneath the minotaur, between his legs, and I followed right behind her. She had kinda backed up a bit, putting a bit of distance between herself and me.
"Boost me!" She cried suddenly, dashing forward.
"Uhh..." I barely had time to protest before she was right on top of me, so I just held out my hands, trying my best to launch her into the air.
"Woah!" Petra gasped, fumbling a bit, barely flying past the minotaur's waistline.
Thinking quickly, she jabbed her sword into the minotaur's back. He cried out in pain, stumbling forward, looking dazed for a bit, then his knees buckled, and he fell to the ground, defeated. Petra pulled her sword out from its fur and slid down its side as the minotaur disappeared in a puff of smoke, just like the other monsters we'd fought before it.
"Is everyone okay?" Jesse asked.
"Yeah," Olivia nodded, rubbing the back of her head. "I think we're all alright."
"Sorry!" I quickly apologized to Petra. "I-I tried my best- but—upper body strength isn't really my thing. I-I tried to tell you but-"
"Hey, it's okay," Petra assured me. "I kinda put you on the spot back there. But hey, we still got him!"
"I guess you're right," I agreed.
"Hey, Jesse, what's that?" Axel asked, pointing to the center of the room.
