Axel, Lukas, and Petra nodded silently and pulled out some wool blocks, building up our little flying machine, copying the looks of the clouds overhead. Olivia installed the redstone in the back and I- well I guess I was just supervising.

"Alright," I looked it over one last time as Jesse placed the last block. "Looks good. Are we ready, guys?"

"Ready," Lukas nodded.

"Jesse, you got that fishing rod handy?" I asked him.

He took it out silently to show me.

"Cool," I began. "Alright then, fire it up, Olivia."

Olivia flipped a lever and we started chugging along over the hill and above my neighborhood. As I sat around, waiting anxiously for us to arrive and execute our plan, I noticed Soren looked a little nervous, and I remembered his reaction when the group did something similar to this on thier first adventure.

"You won't fall," I assured him quickly. "And even if you do, the snow will catch you."

I winked, forming a snowball in my hand just for show, making it vanish as quickly as it appeared. Soren nodded silently, seeming a little bit more comfortable with that knowledge.

"We're approaching the target," Olivia announced quietly.

"Already?" I pressed in a whisper. "Man, this thing is fast. Jesse, are you ready with that fishing rod?"

Jesse nodded silently.

"You've got one shot at this," I reminded him. "Make it count. In three... two... one..."

Jesse cast the line over the edge of our makeshift cloud as I uttered the number one. I squeezed my eyes shut, not daring to look. The seconds were agonizingly long as I waited to hear something that would indicate the results of our little endeavor.

"I got it!" Jesse exclaimed at last, breaking the silence.

I opened my eyes and smiled, sighing with relief.

"We did it!" Axel cheered.

But, of course, nothing was ever that easy in Jesse's world, so why would it be here? We were all congratulating each other when an enderman teleported up behind us.

"Uhh... guys," I began. "Hate to cut this short but umm..."

They all slowly spun around, their eyes widening at what they saw.

"You thought that my crown was what gave me my ability to communicate with you, my sentience, my desire to gain your powers?!" He cackled. "How foolish."

"But..." I began, shocked. "If it wasn't the crown, what was it?"

"I owe everything to Soren," Enderlord explained.

All of us turned to glare at Soren, thinking for a moment that in his research, he accidentally created this monstrosity and neglected to tell us.

"When the end was flooded and we all had to move out, I stumbled across some of his books, and his research," Enderlord explained. "While other endermen fascinated themselves with peacefully wandering around and taking blocks, adapting to our new world once you guys escaped us, I took the time to read and absorb all the knowledge in between those pages, and I became hyperintelligent, hyperaware. These other pathetic endermen had no choice but to bow down to me and accept me as their leader!"

All of our eyes widened in shock, and we turned away from Soren, since it wasn't directly his fault. None of us even had time to ask if there was a plan B before everything went black.
