Dakota
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walked down the sidewalks of the town square, I was slowly starting to feel better after everything that happened with Chris. It still hurt but I knew I just needed time to fully heal.
Everyone around town was being sweet to me but I knew it was because they felt sorry for me. Ever since they all found out, I was treated completely differently. I knew they were just trying to be nice but it was always a constant reminder of a time of my life where I felt trapped and stuck.
I couldn't imagine how'd they react if they found out that the guy I liked slept with my friend after he promised me that he'd never hurt me.
Ha, that's fucking sad as fuck.
Damn, that's really sad.
I walk into the Anne's Bakery with a smile on my face. It smelt amazing, I loved the smell of this place. If heaven had a smell, this would be it. I spot her standing at the register, talking to her customers with a smile on her face.
I walk over to her and she squeals."Dakota!" She cheers.
"Hi, Anne." I smile.
She walks around the counter and runs up to me with open arms. I hug her tightly and laugh.
We pull away and she cups my face into her warm hands.
"You look beautiful." She says.
I love old people, they're so cute.
"And you still manage to look like you're 20." I say.
"Oh, shush. You need to humble me, missy." She says.
I laugh and she smiles at me.
"Sit, I'll get us some cheesecake." She says.
"My favorite." I say.
"I know." She says before she walks away.
I take a seat at an empty table and wait for her, she comes back and places the slice of cheesecake in front of me. I grab a fork and begin to eat it, god, I love this cake.
"How have you been, doll?" She asks.
"I'm doing okay." I tell her.
She sighs, "Tell me." She says.
Anne always knew how to read me, she had some kind of powers. It was crazy, but I love her.
"I met this guy." I tell her.
"I'm listening." She smiles.
"Don't get so excited." I say.
"Oh no." She says.
"He was amazing, Anne. I really liked him, hell, I might've fallen madly in love with him if he didn't go and sleep with my roommate." I tell her.
She gasps, "No." She says.
I nod as I stuff my face with cake.
"Ryder told me to end things with him, so I did. And then he went and slept with another girl." I explain.
She sighs and shakes her head, "That Ryder. Why does he always ruin everything?" She asks.
"I know right. But I guess it made me see that I couldn't trust Chris." I tell her.
"Chris?" She asks.
"The guy I liked." I tell her.
"Ah, I see." She says.
