Y/N eyed the big goblet at the end of the Great Hall from where she was sitting next to Hermione. There was a blue firey age line burning around it to prevent any students under the legal age from submitting their names to the object. The hall was quiet most of the time which allowed the girls to study in peace or rather for Y/N to slip answers to Hermione for the girl's upcoming potions test. Hermione had asked for Y/N's old test papers in the middle of her second year when a really nasty potions test gave her childhood trauma. Their agreement worked well, considering that Hermione was a clever girl and changed the answer to look like hers rather than Y/N's. "Wait, but if that's the answer to this then what is the main ingredient for Amortentia?" Hermione asked suddenly, her brows furrowed from confusion. "It's Pearl Dust which is used in most love potions and the Potion of Invisibility as well," Y/N explained, turning to look at Hermione who was scribbling the answer down. "Amortentia is such a mysterious potion. I wonder if it's really difficult to brew." Hermione mumbled after she had closed her notebook. Y/N stayed quiet, looking at Cedric Diggory who had just entered the Great Hall with his friends. There was a brief exchange of eye contact between Cedric and Y/N, the Hufflepuff student giving her a small smile before he was pushed to the Goblet of Fire. The boy threw a roll of paper with his name in the goblet, the blue fire roaring higher as Cedric stepped out. He gave a brief glance at Y/N again, who was examining Hermione's notes, before getting pulled out of the Great Hall by his yearmates.
It didn't take long for the Weasley twins to appear at the door, vials of some potions in their hands. George and Fred earned a loud round of applause as they neared the goblet before George saw Hermione and Y/N studying. "It's not going to work," Y/N remarked, realising what the boys were planning. "Oh yeah, and why is that, L/N?" George asked with a hint of sarcasm in his voice, bending down next to Y/N, Fred doing the same on Hermione's side. Hermione's explanation fell right past Y/N who was too focused on the closeness of the redhead. The way George's face was only inches away from hers, the way his long hair framed his face and how Y/N got to see it in full detail. "Ready Fred?" George asked, suddenly standing up next to Y/N, startling the poor girl who almost fell from her seat. She earned a small concerned stare from George before he turned to Fred. "Ready George. Bottoms up." Fred replied and they drank the potions, jumping into the circle and then throwing their names in. The fire roared before erupting into small flames that flew the twins out of it, throwing them on the floor. A second later, the potion took effect and the twins were turned. The redheads got into a playful fight, rolling around the stone floor while a circle of curious students formed around them. "Fight! Fight! Fight!" They all chanted loudly, enjoying the show.
Y/N saw Hermione's head whip around as the head of Durmstrang Institute marched in with two of his students, one of them being Viktor Krum. Viktor was the one to also submit his name to the Goblet of Fire, eyeing Hermione as he stepped away from the object. Y/N nudged the girl with a grin. "Is the Hermione Granger in love? With Viktor Krum?" Y/N expressed with a shocked tone, falling into a fit of giggles as the girl's face next to her took a deep shade of red. "It's nothing, alright?" Hermione tried to dismiss the topic. "That's what they all say," Y/N replied, still smiling from the new revelation. "Let's go over the topic again," Hermione mumbled as she opened her notebook again.
Y/N sat at the Gryffindor table that evening, enjoying the food Hogwarts offered and the company of her friends. Harry and Ron were in a deep conversation while Hermione was multitasking eating and studying at the same time. "You know it's a great idea to give your brain a rest?" Y/N asked Hermione who raised her head from the book. "I know, I know. I'm just really worried about it." Hermione replied with a tired tone, looking at her food. "I have an idea." George chimed into our conversation after being silent for a long time. "Of course, it involves sneaking out at night, at least for Y/N." The redhead added with a grin. "If it's another prank of yours then I will have to decline," Y/N said quickly, hoping to avoid another month of detention. "No pranks... for now. This time it's brewing a potion, to be exact Amortentia." Hermione's head perked up at the thought. "Snape's homework?" Y/N asked eyebrows raised due to the unnatural idea. George nodded and went on to explain the details.
At 9 pm sharp, Y/N snuck out of her dorm to the dark hallway. It was much more bizarre during the night with no laughter and quiet chatting of students echoing in the corridor. Now it was only the quiet steps of the girl. A cough from her behind startled Y/N who turned around instantly. "George! What are you doing here?" Y/N asked in a hushed voice, trying not to alert Filch on his night patrol. "Did you really think I would pass the opportunity to sneak around the hallways in the night?" George chuckled, his wand held up, emitting a small light source. "Well, yes?" The girl asked, confused about why he would risk getting in trouble only for her. "Come on. Hermione's already waiting. She has been buzzing around the common room for an hour."
After the redhead had lifted a small cauldron on the table everything was set. "Where's Fred?" Hermione asked, looking at the way to the boy's dorm. "He wasn't feeling well. It doesn't matter though, his potion magically appeared in our room a few hours ago." George replied, slightly annoyed at his brother's way of schoolwork. "See, Hermione," Y/N grabbed the girl's attention raising a small jar. "That's the pearl dust I told you about earlier." She added, giving it a shake. The dust glimmered in the light from the fireplace, some powder gliding around behind the glass. "Also used for the Potion of Invisibility." The boy added, one hand mixing the slightly pink mixture in the cauldron. "I'm not surprised if you have brewed it before," Y/N replied with a chuckle, making Hermione snort. "Surprisingly, I haven't but it's on the list." George chuckled as well and took the Pearl Dust vial from Y/N's hand, opening it. As soon as he poured the powder in, the potion took on an even pinker colour, emitting steam that rose in spirals. "It's done?" Hermione questioned as we all stood up to get a closer look. "I think it is," George commented, stirring the mixture around for good measure. "The scent is different for everyone. Although... mine smells like nothing." The redhead's brows furrowed, mixing it around more. "Mine smells like... wood, musk and something sweet, like chocolate cake?" Hermione spoke, her brows furrowed as well, trying to make out the scents. "Exactly like Viktor Krum," Y/N commented with a mischievous smirk, making George burst out laughing. "Stop it, Y/N!" Hermione yelled, hitting her while her face displayed a deep shade of blush once again. "Mine's a mix of fire whiskey and coffee. A heavy drinker then." Y/N said after a bit of silence, glancing at Hermione who was in a daze and then at George who was staring at her. "Oh really?" The boy asked, turning his gaze away from the girl as soon as she looked. "Anything else?" Y/N nodded her head and took a deep breath. "Parchment paper?" She added and sat down in the chair. "Well, that was eventful. I hope that Snape gives you an 'O'." Y/N said while looking at Hermione who had rested her head on the table, sighing.
