George trashed around his bed, unable to sleep after what had happened at the Yule Ball. Y/N's blushing face so near to his, her hands holding him gently, the girl's head on his shoulder. Everything that the girl did was beginning to make his heart skip a beat and let the butterflies fly in his stomach. The redhead suffered every time Y/N gave him a quick glance, knowing he wasn't hers. No day passed without George pondering back to the night at the Burrow when she had suddenly visited, sleeping in his room and Fred calling the girl Y/N Weasley. "Merlin's sake, can you stop moving around?" His brother's annoyed voice echoed in the dorm. "I know you're thinking about her but do it quietly," Fred added. "Sorry, Fred," George replied simply even though he could've used Fred's behaviour as a rebuttal before his brother got together with his girlfriend Angelina. "If you need her so much, just ask her," A quiet voice said. "And deal with rejection? No thanks, mate," George replied with a sigh. His brother's next sentence went past him completely as Y/N occupied the redhead's mind.

The Great Hall was loud, full of students happily chatting after the first day of school. The twins sat together at the Gryffindor table while enjoying their meal. The Ravenclaw table was just as loud as every other, packed with first years due to the Sorting Hat's decision. To George, the table was empty without a certain Ravenclaw student he had noticed in the morning. To be fair, he had first seen her a day before, on the Hogwarts Express, a quiet girl sitting alone in the last train compartment, staring curiously out of the window but due to his brother's strong grip on his shoulder, George couldn't converse with her. The boy was pulled out of his thoughts when Cedric, a Hufflepuff student and a fellow yearmate, entered the Great Hall. At first, he didn't think anything of it until Cedric made his way to the Gryffindor table, Y/N in tow. "Here, you can sit next to Fred and George. They are very nice," The Hufflepuff student said to the girl whose eyes were puffy. "This is Y/N, she's a first-year," Cedric introduced her as he sat down next to the small girl. "Well, you know our names already. Although I'm Fred," Fred replied and then glanced at George. "And I'm George." The boy finished their practised sentence, smiling at Y/N. "Hi," The girl greeted, her voice still shaky. "Please treat her nicely, I found her crying in the courtyard over her parents' letter," Cedric whispered to the twins who nodded in response.

Y/N was laughing loudly as she ran in front of George. "You can't catch me!" She yelled, speeding up, but stopped dead in her tracks. "Why did you-" The redhead asked but halted when he saw Professor Snape standing tall in front of the girl. "Why are you causing such commotion?" Snape questioned, his usual stoic expression on his face. "I'm sorry, professor," Y/N replied quietly. "Next time, I suggest be quiet. Or you might find yourself in detention," The professor said, staring at George straight in the eye as he walked past them. As soon as Snape was out of sight, the girl giggled and began running again. "Hey! That's not fair!" The redhead yelled behind her.

"Aren't you cold out here?" George neared Y/N who lay on the big grass field, staring at the stars. "No," The girl was lying. Of course, she was cold from the late summer stargazing, if even not freezing. "Mum said to bring you a blanket... but there weren't any. So I bought my sweater!" The boy exclaimed and threw the sweater on the girl playfully. He expected an annoyed comment from the girl. "Thanks, George," Y/N replied and sat up to look at him, standing a few feet away. "What are you even doing here?" George questioned, taking a seat next to the girl. "The stars. They are just so pretty here," She replied, head pointed to the dark sky.  The boy followed suit, noticing the dizzying amount of lights dotted all around above him. "Woah," Was all he could say. "Exactly." The girl mumbled as she slid the boy's sweater on. The redhead knew stars existed, who didn't, but the way Y/N was so mesmerised about them, was fascinating to George. The pair sat in silence, Y/N glancing up while George darted his gaze to his left, eyeing the girl - his biggest star in the universe. The lights in The Burrow began turning off one by one, the full moon shining brighter, gracefully illuminating the girl's face.

George stared daggers in Cedric's way, the boy telling Y/N something that made her laugh. "You look like you will murder Cedric any moment now," Fred said and nudged his brother to get him out of the daze. "Look at them. I don't like the way he is staring at her," George replied. "Didn't you know? Cedric fancies her," Fred added and laughed at his twin's reaction. "Since when?" He questioned, annoyed at the new information. "Since last year. When we met Y/N, remember. They came to the Great Hall together," George scoffed in response. "He doesn't know anything about fancying a girl," The boy mumbled under his breath as Fred chuckled. "And why's that, dear brother George?" Fred was amused at his brother's jealousy, poking him more on that subject. "It doesn't matter," George answered and sighed, moving the topic to a prank the twins had been planning.

"Are you listening to me, George?" Fred asked as he stood over his lying body. "No?" George replied, confused. "You've got it bad for Y/N, haven't you?" His twin questioned, a smirk displayed on his face. "Can't hide that lovestruck face of yours anymore," Fred commented and laughed, going back to his bed. "Oh, shut it, Fred. Can't a bloke appreciate some good company without you making a fuss?" George let out an irritated sigh. "Appreciate? More like obsess, mate. You're head over heels for her!" Fred exasperated with a raise of his voice. "I just," The redhead began, staring at the high ceiling. "Maybe I've taken a bit of a fancy to her," He ended his sentence. "It's been hard hanging out lately. A week ago, when we went to the inn and I saw her laughing and smiling at our arrival, I almost lost the plot for a minute," George revealed, looking at his brother. "I would've kissed her right there and then," He added, remembering his fond memory. "Merlin, you've got it bad! I never thought I'd see the day," Fred said, a wide grin on his face. "Well, you aren't any better with Angelina," George replied snarkily. "At least I won't go around the school like a lost pup. I bet you have got love potions swirling around in that head of yours," Fred bit back, their playful fighting going on another level. "Fred, it's not love potions. It's about the way she smiles and makes me forget about the world. It's about feeling like I've found my other half," Fred's eyebrows rose at his brother's poetic testimony. "Are you sure you didn't take a hard fall on the stairs? You're sounding way too sentimental for your own good," Fred remarked. "Maybe I did, Fred. But you know what? I wouldn't want it any other way," George said, his voice soft as his mind was only on Y/N.

The twins sighed together in unison. "What's the plan then?" Fred questioned after a minute of silence. "Are you going to tell her?" Fred asked a very confused George. "Now?" George said. "Merlin's sake, not now. It's past midnight," His brother exclaimed. "Are you going to twiddle your thumbs and hope she falls into your lap? You need to conjure up some courage, sweep her off her feet before Cedric does," Fred spoke with a serious tone. "It's easier said than done, Fred. I'm not exactly a pro in that matter. I don't know what to do with her," George sighed, the mention of Cedric bugging him. "That's why I am here for. I'll guide you," Fred said happily. "Look who's talking, Mr. Charmer." The boy replied. "Get some sleep. I will introduce my plan," Fred began and cleared his throat. "The plan: Win over Y/N from Cedric, to you tomorrow morning," He added as he heard a scoff from George's direction. "You know, Fred, I'm fine on my own. I'll ask her out when it's the right moment," The boy explained quietly. "When's that? When Y/N is saying 'I do' to Cedric?" George chuckled. "Soon."
