A few days prior to Bill's and Fleur's wedding, Molly had arranged another little celebration. It was slowly but surely wrapping up as the Weasleys were all gathered around a large table outside to enjoy the dinner for the past few hours. On Y/N's left sat Fleur who was whispering something with Bill and on the right sat George, his hand securely on her thigh as if she would run away any moment. The redhead was in a playful conversation with his brothers as they all laughed in unison, his hand squeezing slightly. An hour later, when it was colder and the sun was beginning to set, everybody helped Molly to clean up. Y/N was once again in the kitchen and sorted the dishes until George appeared next to her. He leaned on the counter with a soft smile. "Shall we have a walk after you're done sorting?" He whispered to her. "Of course. Is everything alright?" Y/N replied with a question, turning to face him. "Oh yes, very. Don't worry, love," George flashed a quick smile whereas Y/N was now busy studying his expression and tone. It was oh so slightly off from his usual but she decided to brush it off, assuming it was just her imagination.
The pair slowly walked outside, their fingers enlaced tightly together. The sun painted the sky in beautiful hues of pink and orange as the rays of golden light spilt over the horizon. The cold summer breeze ruffled Y/N's hair and dress as she smiled softly. "The sun always sets in the most beautiful way here." George nodded a smile on his face as well. "It does." The redhead turned to look at her. "Although, no sunset can compare to your beauty," George whispered to her, his hands sliding around her waist. "Geroge," Y/N mumbled to his shoulder as she felt her cheeks turning red. "Just stating the obvious, my love," He chuckled at her reaction and kissed her forehead. The pair wasn't far from the Burrow, as the kitchen window was open and a soft yet familiar tune made its way to their ears. "This is going out to all the lovers out there," Y/N had never turned her head so fast only to find George's eyes on her, studying every expression, and change of her mood. "Oh, love," He smirked. "Do you hear that? It's our song." Y/N nodded softly, the memories of the Yule Ball resurfacing.
"May I have this dance?" George questioned. "Always." Y/N chuckled as she placed her hands on his shoulders. Before she knew it, they were swaying to the music together in each other's arms. Y/N rested her cheek on his chest, as he pulled her closer to him resting his jaw on her head. "Remember our dance at the Yule Ball?" George's voice was barely over a whisper yet Y/N heard everything. "When we didn't know what the future held upon us." She looked up to meet his face, a smile appearing on her face, "How can I forget?" George smiled softly before kissing her tenderly. "So dance your final dance. 'Cause this is your final chance." The soft tune flowed out as they stood still in their position and glanced at each other. George took her hands in his and breathed, "Back then I couldn't have known what the future would hold for you and me," He said his voice slightly shaky, "But now I do." George slowly lowered himself to one knee, pulling out a small velvet box from his pocket. Y/N's breath hitched as a gasp left her lips and she covered her mouth with her hand.
"Y/N," The redhead said his voice breaking slightly as his grip tightened on the box. "Since the day we met, I knew deep down in my heart that you're the one." Y/N felt the tears streaming down her face in a river as she stared at him, her heart beating faster than ever before. "Every single thing about you, the warmth of your touch, your smile when you blush or how you curl your lip when you concentrate enough your kind and thoughtful nature." George spoke and at the end, let out a slight breath, "Every moment we've shared has been etched into my mind, carved into my thoughts and painted upon my heart." Y/N noted the tears at the corners of George's eyes as he took one last deep breath. "Y/N forever is not enough to describe my love for you. In a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, it will always be you. Y/N, it has been and always will be you." He opened the box slowly, revealing a stunning diamond ring inside as the last rays of the sun reflected off it, casting colourful rays.
"Y/N L/N, will you marry me?" George finally said, his eyes meeting Y/N's again as felt her heart jump in her throat. "A thousand times yes!" She mumbled through tears as George slipped the ring on her finger and stood up. The next moment her hands were wrapped around him as he sighed and pulled her closer, "I love you, Y/N." Y/N pulled back, her face stained with tears but the brightest smile George had ever seen covered her mouth, "I love you, Georgie, I love you so so much," She added with a shaky voice. He ran his finger over her cheek and brushed a strand of hair from her face. Before she could say another word he pulled her in, his hands finding their way to the small of her back as she gripped his shoulders.
"Let's head back inside," George said fter a few moments of blissful silence. Y/N nodded happily as she grabbed his hand. The pair wasn't even fully inside the Burrow before Fred had tackled them in a hug. He pulled back, a wide grin on his face as he observed the pair. "It's her, the one and only Y/N Weasley!" Fred commented with a chuckle, causing her cheeks to grow red as she beamed back at him. Fred nudged his brother playfully, a smile playing on his lips. "Well, who are you going to make the best man?" Fred questioned in a teasing tone. George laughed and turned to Fred, "Well who do you think? Old Snape perhaps?" The twins laughed "Ah, an excellent choice, we were his favourites, weren't we?" George nodded with a playful grin, "Alright, I'm just messing with you, Freddie. Of course, you're the best man." Fred lifted his hand a smirk still on his face, "Promise?" "Promise," George said as they shook hands. Fred grinned widely as he said, "Good, that's settled, now I can start preparing for my speech. And I promise you to love birds, you will need tissues nearby because there won't be a single dry eye when I'm done."
Y/N laughed at Fred's promises, but before she could say anything else, all of the other Weasleys appeared in the doorway, eyes quickly fixed on her ring, and they seemed completely enamoured by it. Molly pulled them in a tight hug, tears flowing down her cheeks. "Oh, you two, I was hoping for this day to happen!" Molly exclaimed, her grasp tightening. "Mom," George whispered with a chuckle, trying to escape her gorilla grip. "Alright, alright," Molly laughed through tears as she made an attempt to dry them. After multiple rounds of wishes and toasts were said, the house quieted down and everyone made their way upstairs for the night. "Let's go, my fiancée," George said playfully, as he gave her hand a squeeze. Y/N chuckled at his teasing. "My fiancée?" She questioned with a playful tone. "That has a nice ring to it. Of course, my fiancée" The pair made it to their room and settled in the bed. George pulled her into his embrace as she laid her head on his chest. He ran circles on the small of her back with his hand, and she could hear his heartbeat and steady breath. "All of this feels like a dream," Y/N whispered. "It does, but now it's our present and future," The redhead whispered back bringing her hand to his lips as he left a soft kiss on her ring finger. "I wouldn't have it any other way," she added softly. "Me neither, love, me neither," George mumbled and kissed her forehead.
